Boss’ Breakdown – Round 6

Boss' Breakdown - Round 6

Round 6 was the DGW we were all waiting for, or so we thought. Rotation was all too frequent with many players missing out completely. However, the teams still took the field and here are the FMLS takeaways for Round 6!

Sporting Kansas City (1) – (2) Colorado Rapids

MOTM – Shkelzen Gashi ($8.9) 8pts
Gashi looked busy throughout taking three shots but none more important than the game winning volley in the 82nd min to steal a road victory from SKC.

WATCHLIST – Tim Melia ($5.7) 3pts
The only locked-in starter in SKC’s defense notched 5 saves and looks the safest bet in regard to rotation for their two upcoming DGWs.

Portland Timbers (1) – (3) FC Dallas

MOTM – Fabian Castillo ($10.8) 10pts
Castillo is well known for his blistering speed but he’s added goals to his repertoire including the very difficult chip shot, just ask the flat footed Kwarasey!

WATCHLIST – Tesho Akindele ($7.8) 11pts
Tesho continues to shine up top when Diaz is out injured (hamstring). Diaz’s status is still a mystery, so expect Akindele to continue his run of form.

San Jose Earthquakes (2) – (0) New York Red Bulls

MOTM – Chris Wondolowski ($10.9) 8pts
Wondolowski is a machine, netting his 5th goal in his 6th game.

WATCHLIST – Perez Garcia ($8.1) 7pts
MPG hasn’t had many starts this year, but he was all over the pitch getting both offensive and defensive bonus.

Houston Dynamo (1) – (4) Los Angeles Galaxy

MOTM – Gio Dos Santos ($10.9) 15pts
Dos Santos looked the player the galaxy have paid for and much more. However, this type of performance hasn’t been a regular thing so I’d wait for a few before bringing him into your squad.

WATCHLIST – Sebastian Lletget ($8.0) 6pts
Lletget again backed up the flash en route to his 3rd straight 6 point game. For the price, he’s great consistent value.

Chicago Fire (1) – (2) Montreal Impact

MOTM – Ignacio Piatti ($10.6) 8pts
Nacho seems to just decide to take the game into his own hands and did just that to snatch a draw from Chicago.

WATCHLIST – Didier Drogba ($11.5) 6pts
Drogba notched his first goal of the year in spectacular fashion via a back heel. However, I wonder if he could have done that on turf?

D.C. United (0) – (1) Toronto FC

MOTM – Sebastian Giovinco ($12.0) 9pts
With all the DGW attention, many managers shifted out Giovinco but were (most likely) burned by the rotation and wish they had kept the forward in their squad.

WATCHLIST – Clint Irwin ($5.6) 8pts
Irwin held DC in check with three saves to get his 2nd clean sheet of the year. The much improved defense is something to keep an eye on.

Columbus Crew (3) – (2) New York City FC

MOTM – Justin Meram ($8.4) 17pts
Merman, much like the whole of Columbus Crew, has had an up and down year but this performance will make many FMLS managers take notice.

WATCHLIST – David Villa ($11.3) 13pts
With all the DGW attention, many managers shifted out Villa but were (most likely) burned by the rotation and wish they had kept the forward in their squad

Colorado Rapids (2) – (1) New York Red Bulls

MOTM – Jermaine Jones ($8.2) 15pts
Jones’ first match of the year was memorable for more than just the snow. His solidity in the midfield provided strength going both forward and defensively. Colorado suddenly looks an option fantasy-wise.

WATCHLIST – Axel Sjoberg ($5.5)
The perfect combination of CB position and price ended up being too good to be true as Sjoberg missed both of the matches. Keep and eye out for updates as if/when he’s back he’s still a good option as the 4th defender/rotation option.

Seattle Sounders (2) – (1) Philadelphia Union

MOTM – Andreas Ivanschitz ($7.8) 14pts
Seattle seems to be getting into a groove offensively and Ivanschitz is at the center, just as we presumed in the preseason!

WATCHLIST – Jordan Morris ($8.1) 7pts
J-Mo scored his first MLS goal if Seattle can keep it rolling, Morris should definitely be involved.

Real Salt Lake (1) – (0) Vancouver Whitecaps

MOTM – Joao Plata ($9.5) 7pts
With all the DGW attention, many managers shifted out Plata but were (most likely) burned by the rotation and wish they had kept the forward in their squad.

WATCHLIST – Burrito Martinez ($8.5) 9pts
Burrito has always had flash, but if he can mix in some goals, he’ll be worth of fantasy consideration.

Portland Timbers (3) – (1) San Jose Earthquakes

MOTM – Fanendo Adi ($10.2) 11pts
Although it was just a substitute appearance, Adi rewarded his owners with a late brace and a DGW performance we were all looking for!

WATCHLIST – Chris Wondolowski ($10.9) 10pts
I repeat, Wondolowski is a machine, netting his 6th goal in his 7th game.

Orlando City SC (2) – (2) New England Revolution

MOTM – Kaka ($10.9) 9pts
Kaka put away a penalty early on continuing his run of form since returning from injury.

WATCHLIST – Chris Tierney ($8.1) 5pts
Tierney displayed his crossing ability for his 1st assist of the year and looks a great option for his upcoming Round 8 DGW, especially with his guarantee of 180mins.

FC Dallas (2) – (1) Sporting Kansas City

MOTM – Michael Barrios ($8.1) 7pts
Barrios again eased the pain of Diaz missing out by scoring his 4th goal of the 2016 campaign and his 2nd of Round 6.

WATCHLIST – Chris Seitz ($4.7) 5pts
Seitz has taken the starting job from Gonzalez and with another strong game (5 saves) he looks to continue between the posts.
