KFC MLS Fantasy Team – Week 9

Did you hear the news about Dax McCarty? He’s injured so you may want to see if that will hurt your team this week.

KFC Team Week 9

Keep reading for the breakdown of our transfers.

Week 8 summary

Olave….WOOPS! Guess that did not work out as well as we hoped. Oh well, that’s how fantasy works some times, and you can never predict injuries. At least it was not serious and that is what is important. After the injury, our goal was to finish in the 90s and we missed that goal by just 1 point. So overall, we were pretty happy with the result as most of our other players preformed as expected.

Week 9 Changes

Week 8 had a lot of standout players and it was really hard to decide who to bring in. We had to try to balance further value build with the upcoming double game week in week 11 and the future double game in week 12. There were three players that jumped out to us immediately: Jack McInerney, Dominic Oduro, and Landon Donovan. At the time, the only injury we were worried about was Davis (not so much for Deshorn Brown).

There was a lot of talk involving trades to drop Davis and get Donvoan, but in the end, we decided that Davis has a lot of value to him and we wanted to ride out through the injury. So, we decided that we would make a change in our front line instead. Earnshaw’s transfers have slowed down and the injury to Brown made him unlikely to gain value this week. So we dropped Earnshaw for Jack McInerney for no money loss and then we dropped Brown for Dominic Oduro.

Both of these guys are in good form right now and are hot transfer targets, this made them sure to gain value for our team, which they have. J Mac also has the added benefit of being a decent sub for Davis in case he does not play, BUT he also has a double game in week 12 and that makes him sure to gain more value. Oduro is not as explosive as J Mac, but we like that he’s cheap and gaining value.

That was all we did until yesterday. With the news of Dax McCarty’s injury, and our ideal replacement gaining value, we went ahead and took the -4 hit to bring in Amobi Okugo not only do we get another week 12 double game player, but we also get a defender/midfielder with some great bonus point generation (almost 3 points per game). And the game against New England looks good for Philly, especially with the injury concern of A.J. Soares.

Everything else stayed the same. We’re playing Henry against Toronto to see if he can work some magic and we’re putting Hamid back on the line because there are too many worried about Irwin facing Houston at home (even with an injured Davis).

That just leaves our captain. How does that saying go… “Fool me once.” Yeah, back to Zusi. I like how Portland is playing better this season, but I don’t have a lot of faith against Kansas City at home.

Week 10 Prep

Week 10 is going to be interesting with all of our Dallas players not playing. The current plan is to bench them. You may also see some changes to our keepers as we prep for week 11 and 12 and…. Perhaps a little bit of Donovan in our future? Keep checking back to find out.
