KFC’s Fantasy MLS Forward picks – Week 3

Forwards

I’m going to try something a little different for this week’s Forwards picks. I’m sure players like Keane, Wondo, and Henry are always on people’s radar, so unless there is a reason to point one of them out, I’ll try to focus on others in the main part of the article and then include a differential pick.

Big 3
Robbie Keane (LA v Chivas),  Chris  Wondolowski (SJ vs Columbus), and Thierry Henry (NY vs DC).

Keep reading for the rest.

Alvaro Saborio (Real Salt Lake) vs Colorado
Price: $10.1m
Owned by: 7.2%

After opening the season with 2 goals Soborio was quiet during the loss to DC, but this week RSL is going up against the struggling Colorado. The Rapids have had a few bright moments, mostly due to the play of Deshorn Brown, but it’s not been enough to earn them a victory. If Saborio is able to get himself into good positions again, he should be able to get some points off of the Colorado defense.

Claudio Bieler (Sporting Kansas City) vs Chicago
Price: $9.1m
Owned by: 5.4%

With players like Zusi, Collin, and Nielsen, it can be easy to forget that SKC also has an excellent forward who is in good form right now. Bieler has scored a goal 2 weeks in a row and if Chicago continues to play as they are, it’s very likely that it will soon be 3. For the form that Bieler is in, his owner ship is quite low. He’s definitely a good player to get if you are looking to build team value.

Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders) vs Portland
Price: $9.9m
Owned by: 10.8%

Johnson had a slow opening week, but the Sounders played tough against Tigres he was able to squeak in the winning goal. That a big confidence boost and it’s exactly what is needed before playing one Seattle’s biggest games of the year. For those who may not know, Portland and Seattle are HUGE rivals. This is a game that every player will want to play well in, and even though Portland is playing better than they did last year, they are still letting balls slip through their defense.

Differential

Robert Earnshaw (Toronto) vs Montreal
Price: $7.5m
Owned by: 5.4%

Earnshaw is another player who could soon see some price rises, especially if Toronto is able to do well in their game against Montreal. One of his two goals came from a PK last week, so even though you can’t count on that each week, 1 $7.5m OK taker could be a nice way to round out a from 3 for you team. Montreal is in good form right now, so this will be another challenging game for Toronto, but on that could pay off big for Earnshaw owners.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.

  1. What I want to know is when is The US international squad announced because that is really gonna mess up GW 4.

  2. Saborio doesn’t play for SKC. You meant Bieler.
