KFC’s MLS Fantasy Midfielders & Forwards Roundup – Week 31

 soccer_banner

The other day I posted my picks on the top Keepers and Defenders for this week. Now it’s time to cover the other half of the field. I’ve tried to focus on differential players as much as I can for this writeup. At this point of the fantasy season, that’s really your only hope of making gains on your competition (especially if you are in the top 200).

If you want to see more, keep reading after the break. But please join the discussion at r/FantasyMLS, that’s where a lot of planning is made and last second decisions finalized. If you have questions, please stop by!

Midfielders:

I’ll start out with the dog names more people are already away of: Magee (always a good option), Donovan (had some time off during CCL), Zusi (Away games and form?), Morales (also a good option), and Brad Davis (do you trust him yet).

So who’s left that could fill out your team? One of the recent popular picks is going to be Kelyn Rowe (9.8% @ $5.8m). His recent form, two home games in a row, and his price make him almost too tempting to pass up. But has he peaked? He’s on everyone’s radar so his differential potential is slipping away. If you are willing to spend some more cash, Will Johnson (8.9% @ $7.8m) is a player that could pay off. He did not do much against Chivas, but he got a goal right after coming back from his injury. Also, if Valeri is out for the next game, Johnson going to be called on more. Portland also have 4 home games left, so there is plenty of time for him to give you good returns if you want to stick it out. Finally, I’m going with Dax McCarty (5.1% @ $7.9m). He’s got a tougher match this week than some of my other picks, but I think that could bring out the best in him since he’s capable of getting offensive and defensive points. New York’s schedule is not as easy as other’s, but they are on top in the Eastern Conference, so they will want to end strong.

Forwards:

I really tried to come up with a good differential list for Forwards this week, but there are jsut so few of them that it’s just not worth it in my opinion. So just be sure you have a good balance of the top players and try to swap out if you think a home game looks advantageous.

For this week, Marco Divaio, Robbie Keane, and Federico Higuaín are the ones to look at and Diego Fagundez would be the best value option, especially against DC. I’m sure this list comes as no surprise though.

Final thoughts

• Midfield offers the best differential options

• Remember, PHI is on a bye week for Week 31

• Forwards ore BORING!

These are our picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post.
