MLS Fantasy Boss Round 21 Captain Poll

Captain-FantasyI’m trying something new this week and posting the captain poll early to try and get more responses. I have not looked at a lot of numbers yet, but I believe I have three solid early choices. Don’t forget, the transfer deadline is Wednesday the 30th at 7:o0pm EST so be sure to get all of your trades in and captain set. Remember, you don’t get a Vice Captain this year.

Speaking of captains, have you decided on yours yet? Well now is your chance to find out what others think and cast your vote for your favorite player. If you would like to join the discussion, be sure to join the Live Chat in the sidebar just to your right.

Don’t forget to vote at the end!

There are a lot of good choices for captain this week, surprised? To start, there are seven teams who have a double game: Chicago, Colorado, DC, New England, New York, RSL, and Toronto, and unlike last week, there are some good options from several teams. Of these teams, New York, Colorado, and Toronto have the easiest schedule, but Chicago has 2 home games, and RSL has some players who have hit a bit of form. So with that in mind, here are my picks:

1) Bradley Wright-Phillips: What can I say, he’s basically this years Mr. Fantasy, even with some disappointing finishing problems. He’s scored in every one of his last five games, sure some were PKs but those still count. I also rate New York as having the easiest of the DGW schedules. The RSL away game will be the toughest, but they are not unbeatable at home. As for the New England game, well, they have lost their last seven so the odds look good for New York to score here.

2) Dillon Powers: Like New York, Colorado is also playing both New England and RSL so you can copy and paste most of what I just said above about each teams current form. As for Powers, he’s scored 1 goal and earned 2 assists in his last four games and he’s been racking us attacking bonus points. The Rapids have been struggling when playing away, but have one of the best home winning records right now.

3) Javier Morales: I’ll be honest, RSL has hit a bit of a rough patch in overall form. Yet, a few of their players are starting to come into a bit of personal form. They have one of the harder DGW schedules, so this may not be the week to load up on defense, but their offense is starting to click. Plata is also a good choice if you are looking to RSL for your captain, but I believe that Morales edges him out due to bonus point potential.

Honorable Mentions) Harrison Shipp: He was hot at the start of the season but has run into a rough spot of form with only 1 assist over 4 games. Chicago falls in the middle for difficult of DGW, but they do have two home games so this could help Shipp. Finally, Jermain Defoe: He’s back fro his yellow card suspension and just in time for the DGW. However, I think Toronto has one of the toughest schedules. DC is the reason for this difficulty and Montreal are reaching New England levels of unsuccessfulness. But we’ve all seen what success Defoe has had this year, so he could pay off.
