MLSFB Player Roundup – Round 11

Round 10 resulted in some huge point returns for many managers and there were even 4 Single Game Week players who made it into the dream team. So if congrats if you invested in RSL. This week, I expect more crazy results because a lot of world cup players will be leaving and we need to keep an eye out for value replacements. You can find a full list (ongoing updates) at /r/FantasyMLS. And with that, on to the picks.

Also, sorry about the picks post last week. There was a problem with the posting and the final version was lost.

Keepers:

If you’re interested in a DGW keeper this week, then Eric Kronberg (13.4% @ $5.3m) is your guy. SKC will be at full strength today and have only allowed 1 goal at home. The Chicago game is the wildcard but another clean sheet is very possible. If you’re looking to save some money on your keepers, then take a look at Bill Hamid (5.7% @ $4.8m). DC’s defense has been impressive lately and they have only allowed 3 goals at home. Could be a nice pick as they have a Double Game in round 12.

Defenders:

A lot of these picks are based on which defensive units are most intact after World Cup call-ups. That being said, SKC players have been very popular and Collin (19% @ $10.0m) is leading the Transfer In from them. But be sure to take a look at his sats. He has missed a few games but his CBI/90 are not as high as many other cheaper options. $10 may be too much. A cheaper, and currently more productive, option is Michel (13.5% @ $8.0). He racked up a couple of goals last week and there could be more in the future against Chivas.

I still don’t think it’s worth have many expensive defenders on your team so here’s a list of cheap options: Gargan ($6.1), Horst ($6.3), Christian Fernandez ($6.7),  Farrell ($7.2), Moor ($7.3). You can fill the rest of your team with bench warming $4.0 options.

Midfielders:

The midfield options open up a little this week since several big name will be absent and other are finding some form. Graham Zusi should be here for the first SKC game, but if you want a player for both, I’d go with Benny Feilhaber (14.5% @ $8.3m). He’s not been a great fantasy producer so far but with Zusi gone, he’ll be a more viable for set pieces and leading the attack. I’m not a fan of any Philly players for this week, sorry.

For non-DWG players, Javier Morales (12.8% @ $10.8m) is the big name after last week. RSL also has a nice schedule leading into a DGW in Round 14. I’m also a fan of Lamar Neagle (25.2% @ $8.2m) this week. He’s been on form and with Dempsey gone, he’s had a history of being even more involved in the attack. After a rough start, Diego Valeri (9.4% @ $10.0m) is finally finding a little form. This should give Portland fans hope because Columbus has definitely run into a spell of bad form. If you’re looking for a differential pick, I like Lee Nguyen (6.5% @ $8.6m). He’s ben at the heart of New England’s attack this year and come in cheaper than Fagundez.

Forwards:

For those of you who want to field a SKC player in every spot, Dominic Dwyer (14% @ $8.3m) is the obvious pick. He had a good round 10, but he has been inconsistent and there could be lineup changes after game 1. Again, not a fan of Philly players.

Real Salt Lake has been enjoying some nice form recently and a big key to that success has been Joao Plata (20.7% @ $7.4m), he’s also CHEAP! I also think that Obafemi Martins (19.3% @ $9.9m) has one more good week left in him before Seattle’s schedule becomes rough and SJ is missing a starting defender. A cheaper option is Fabian Espindola (8.6% @ $8.6m) and you pickup a key DC attacker before their upcoming DGW. Your cheapest option is going to be Harrison Shipp (16.3% @ $6.3m). He’s been earning assists fairly regularly this season and exploded against New York last week. This game against SKC could be tougher, but they will be missing some starting players so anything is possible.
