Playtime Analysis - 2016 Round 21

Playtime Analysis is a weekly overview offering useful tips for the coming weeks about players that aren’t going to be getting their usual time on the pitch.  Whether it be value subs, injured stars, or international absences, you can find it here in Playtime Analysis.

Goalkeeper: At this point in the season, if you are looking for a keeper, it’s time to go safe.  Wasting transfers on this position can only hurt you in the long run.  Rowe or Blake are the obvious choices since they won’t have any byes until round 32.  Shuttleworth and Sean Johnson would be a bit of a stretch, but not out of the question with no byes either.

Defender Shuffle: By now, the big value names are known and all but Steres and Campbell have byes coming up.  It’s best to grab these two soon and plan the rotation out.

Larentowicz $7.2 LA: Big Red didn’t start off as a serious player with the LA Galaxy, but he’s certainly come on strong since locking down the starting role.  With an average of 5.4 points when going 90, he’s a serious bargain for a 5th midfielder in a 3-5-2.

Lodiero $11.5 SEA: Seattle’s new highlight player had a wonderful MLS debut.  If he had been added to fantasy last week, he would have earned between 6 and 9 points without a goal or assist.  He’s expensive, but he’s definitely worth keeping an eye on since that price tag for a new transfer means the league office is very high on him.

Transfer Warning

Igbonanike has joined DC from Chicago. Dallas has signed defender Norberto Paparato. The Timbers have added a pair of defenders with Steven Taylor and Gbenga Arokoyo signing.

The big story of the transfer window outside the massive moves by DC is the Espindola deal with the Whitecaps.  With no chance at an extension, Espindola has refused to play in Vancouver resulting in Giles Barnes being traded to Vancouver from Houston.

Look Ahead

Real Salt Lake and RSL both have a DGW while Columbus and FC Dallas are on bye.

There are 8 free transfers left between now and Round 25 when 8 teams are on bye. At least five* player on your roster needs to be part of the Round 25 game week  and one* needs to be part of the Round 27 game week to avoid a -4.

*Banking a transfer decrease the required number by one.
