Round 23 Punts and Differentials

Punts-Version-2

After a MASSIVE DGW23, we have a bit of a DGW break until GW28. We also have a couple of bye’s coming up in GW25 for: COL,FCD,NYCFC,NYRB,PDX,RSL,SKC,VAN. There is also a bye in GW27 for: HOU,MTL,OCSC,RSL,SJ,SEA,SKC,TFC. RSL & SKC have a 2 bye weeks within a 2 week period, so make adjustments as needed! If you brought in Bono(11pts), Beitashour(14pts), Jorales(23pts), Osorio(11pts), you reaped the benefits from high points with low ownership!

This week I will be covering some differential options that could help get you through the next 5 weeks without making any additional transfers.

Hit me up on Twitter @JayMLSFI and let me know what you think of the new format and give me any suggestions for how I can keep making this article more fun and informative.

Keepers

  • Hamid (COL – 6.2 Mil @ 0.8 % Ownership): Hamid is arguably one of the league’s best keepers. With DC not having a bye, he is a set and forget type of player.

Defenders

  • Afful (CLB – 7.4 Mil @ 3.1 % Ownership): Afful is a bit pricey for a defender, but has boasted 22pts in his last 4 games. They’re schedule has some decent fixtures, but you will be CS hunting for additional points.
  • Marquez (PHI – 6.1 Mil @ 1.3% Ownership) – PHI defense has fallen out of form as of late. The reason why I like Marquez, is he is in the mid-range price point and has played in EVERY MLS match this year. He is a consistent started with decent returns. His BP’S are not great, but like most defenders, we are CS hunting.

Midfielders

  • Accam (CHI – 9.1 Mil @ 3.6 % Ownership): Accam has been on everyone’s radar this year and has been extremely inconsistent. He is a true Boom or Bust pick. He did play 45’ vs RSL last weekend, and played the full 90’(scored CHI’s only goal), but should see time this weekend as well.
  • Gerrard (LAG – 10.5 Mil @ 3.6% Ownership) : Stevie G has one of the best floors/ceiling’s in the game for a mid. When he’s on the pitch, he continues to impress and help fantasy managers with a consistent return.

Forwards

  • GDS (LAG – 11.6 Mil @ 3.7 % Ownership): GDS has been on a tear as of late. 20pts(3 straight games with consecutive assists). He is a bit pricey, and with Keane’s ownership at 8.7%, he could be a good punt. LAG have 3 home fixtures out of their next 5 and are playing middle of the pack defenses.

Boom or Bust pick of the week

  • Mullins (DC- 6.3 Mil @ 3.9 % Ownership): Since transferring to DCU from NYCFC, Mullins has registered a goal/CS with DCU. He seems to be a solid starter, even though he has been one of the first subs. At $6.3 Mil, he could be a great budget 3rd FWD, and a great switcheroo option.
