Round 31 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.
David Villa / NYCFC / $9.5 Million / vs Chicago (H) and Minnesota (A)
Two games this round for David Villa and NYCFC, which provides the Spaniard a perfect chance to add to his 11 goals he has scored so far this season . However one goal in his last four games will be a ratio he will have be looking to improve on , hopefully starting tonight against Chicago.
Chicago have only won one game since beating NYCFC way back in July, However Villa did not play in the match. So one win in 11 games for the fire , should give NYCFC confidence heading in to the game. Game two is against Minnesota , who have not kept a clean sheet in their last 16 matches , should fear the visits of NYCFC and epically Villa. Two good matches up Villa , which hopefully means goals and points.
Nemanja Nikolic / Chicago / $10.3 Million / vs NYCFC (A) and LAFC (H)
Not the greatest season from Nemanja Nikolic by his standards , however he sits fifth in the goal scoring charts with 14 goals . Which is made even more impressive playing in a Chicago team who sit 10th in the Eastern Conference. Also the forward is in good form, four goals in his last five games will give him confidence heading into two tough match ups.
No clean sheet in nine games for NYCFC , is an area Nikolic will look to exploit , while LAFC is anther difficult game. However with the traveling involved for LAFC , we may see a less than 100 per cent Los Angeles. Two hard match ups for Nikolic but might be worth taking a gamble on a player who will be captained less than the likes of Villa and Moralez .
Maximiliano Moralez / NYCFC / $10.3 Million / vs Chicago (H) and Minnesota (A)
Not 100 percent that Villa will play 180 minutes ?, then Maximiliano Moralez may be the safer option. He is averaging 7.97 points per game , so with a double game round and if you make him your captain than he is returning north of 30 points. Plus the match up against Chicago and Minnesota should be winnable games for NYCFC.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic / LA Galaxy / $13.1 Million / vs Vancouver (H) (Wildcard)
Only reason Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes the list as a wildcard option is the three other guys play twice. Ibrahimovic would be a lock in my team if every team was only playing once this round. Three goals and two assist in his last four games is impressive from the Swede. Plus making Zlatan your captain is a contrary play, so if the majority have selected the obvious guys than you could jump a few places if Ibra works his magic.
