2019 Round 15 Captain’s Conundrum

The final week of the spring season is here. 12 teams will go head to head against each other before the entire game is reset for the fall season. Those who hold a favorable rank might want to play it safe here and those who can’t wait for this disastrous season to end (like me) could look to go big, just to see where it takes you.

1) Alejandro Pozuelo

Pozuelo is the easily the most popular choice this week. Even though he will be missing his partner in crime Jozy Altidore, he is destructive enough to cause his trouble on his own. Toronto’s opponents this week are Sporting Kansas City who’ve conceded goals in 12 consecutive games dating back to March. Pozuelo has a high floor and ceiling so he is a safe choice with good potential for double digit points.

2) Maxi Moralez

Moralez had a slow start to the season but has slowly picked up form in these recent games. He has 3 assists and 2 goals in the last 4 games and they were all away. He returns home this week where he has been more productive and consistent, against FC Cincinnati. Cincinnati currently hold the wooden spoon and have conceded 28 goals so far this season with a joint league worst goal difference of -16. These are all positive signs for NYCFC and Moralez who’ve only lost 1 game so far this season.

3) Jamiro Monteiro

Jamiro Monteiro has been a force in fantasy and showed us his potential ceiling with his 23 points in the last double gameweek which included 1 assist and 1 goal. Monteiro could also be on penalty duties if Marco Fabian sits on the bench again or if it’s just handed over to him because of Fabian’s poor form. The Red Bull’s backline is slowly improving but I still believe that the Union attack will find a way through and Monteiro has a decent chance of being involved.

4) Heber Araujo Dos Santos

NYCFC’s electric Brazilian winger is slowly warming up to MLS and has been involved in 4 goals and 2 assists in 7 games where he has played above 60 minutes. He has a fantastic fixture against FC Cincinnati and could easily find a goal or two for himself.

5) Chris Wondolowski

Chris Wondolowski has risen and his revival has been quite remarkable. He makes this list based purely on his form which is better than any other player on this list. He is proving all the doubters wrong with his 7 goals in the past 3 games. Next on his hit-list is FC Dallas who’ve been struggling at the back and haven’t kept a cleansheet in 6 games. Will you dare to Wondo this week?
