KFC Team Week 18

Keep reading for the breakdown of our transfers.

Week 17 summary

Week 17 did not go quite as we hoped. A few of our big name players had disappointing games (Collin, Zusi, Keane). But, at the end of the day we were above the average and close to the average of the top 100.

Week 18 Changes

This week was all about waiting for the Gold Cup rosters. Fortunately, we were hit with only 1 Gold Cup call up and it was the one we expected (Landon Donovan). There was no need to trade him this week though because he will still play in week 18 before he leaves.

We actually only made 1 trade this week. With the news of Brad Davis getting injured, we decided that we would take the opportunity to drop him. I was a little worried about having him during the tougher run, and while Houston was missing a couple of key players so it was a good excuse. Also, I wanted to bring in one more Montreal player, so to replace Davis we brought in Patrice Bernier. We like the run of games Montreal has and hope that he’ll be able to get us some good returns.

We thought about changing our keeper as well. Irwin could be dropping back to the bench with Pickens back in training, but Ricketts is going to be our main guy for a while, so I was willing to risk it the next couple of weeks. But we’ll have 3 trades next week if it looks bad.

The final choice was Captain. That was hard; I’m not going to lie. In the end, we decided to roll the dice with Marco Di Vaio. He’s scored in every home game, Montreal has plenty of talent, and Colorado’s form has dropped a bit recently. I know the odds are against him (I mean how long can you score in every home game), but it just proved too tempting to us in the end.

Week 19 Prep

I honestly don’t know what we’re going to do right now. That’s another reason why we banked the extra free trade this week. Seeing the results of this game will help, but we’ll also have to factor in if we want to grab a player who will replace a Gold Cup call up, or bank against the teams that have lost several key players.

So that’s the KFC team for Week 18. What do you think? How did your team do? Have any questions for us? Want input on your team? Stop by r/FantasyMLS and post. There are many good members who can help out with questions. We are also now on Twitter @FantasyMLSTips. Feel free to tweet us too.
