KFC’s MLS Fantasy Keeper picks – Week 2

KeepersWeek one was good for keepers. Of the 9 games that were played, 7 had shutouts! That’s great news for all of the managers who got Clean Sheet and Defensive bonus points. If you did not have a great week, don’t worry; week 2 has several more games that could result in good numbers. Keep reading and I’ll tell you about some Keepers that look promising.

Jimmy Nielsen (Kansas City) vs Toronto
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 14.7%

Nielsen played well in Kansas City’s opening game against the Philadelphia Union. He ended the game with 5 saves, but it was and excellent strike by Sebastien Le Toux that ended his clean sheet. Week 2 should be easier. Toronto lost to Vancouver last week and they should not expect Kansas City to be any easier. I expect Nielsen to be able to grab some bonus points in this game.

Raul Fernandez (FC Dallas) vs Chivas
Price: $5.5m
Owned by: 1%

Dallas has the best two opening games in the league this season, and showed attacking promise in their opener against Colorado. Fernandez was able to easily get a clean sheet in week 1 (only being called on to make 3 saves) and I think the game against Chivas will end the same.  Chivas will need more time to settle into its new direction, and I think Dallas will be bale to take advantage of that.

Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire) vs New England
Price: $5.0m
Owned by: 15.1%

OK, so maybe his game against LA was not great. It’s safe to say that New England is nothing like LA and I think we’ll see a very different result from Johnson in week two. This is also New England’s first game of the season, so Chicago also has the added advantage of already having one game under their belt.  I expect Johnson will definitely want to put the LA game behind him and playing New England at home offers a good opportunity for a clean sheet.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
