KFC’s MLS Fantasy Keeper picks – Week 3

 Keepers

Twenty-one, that’s the number of goals that were scored this past weekend and, unfortunately, the goals were spread over almost every team.  A lot of the results were surprising but that’s just the way the ball bounces some times. So a big congrats to everyone who brought in Hamid last week. Keep reading to see who stands out to us for week 3.

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) vs Colorado
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 14.7%

Even though Rimando was not able to keep a clean sheet against DC last week, it cannot be attributed to poor form. DC had 3 times as many shots on goal than RSL and almost double the number of corners which helped Rimando earn 5 saves. That’s a lot of work for any keeper.  The week 3 Home game against Colorado should be easier than RSL’s last two games. Deshorn Brown poses the most danger, but RSL’s defense has the experience to deal with him and Rimando is a key player.

Carlo Cudicini (LA Galaxy) vs Chivas
Price: $5.5m
Owned by: 6.7%

Cudicini had a good performance in LA’s season opener and was able to follow that up with another clean sheet in their CONCACAF game last week. He’s playing well and LA has one of the easiest series of games for the next few weeks (CHV, COL, tor, MON). This makes Cusicini an attractive choice for Keeper and his low ownership could be a nice differential for managers how play him.

Troy Perkins (Montreal Impact) vs Toronto
Price: $5.0m
Owned by: 15.6%

Montreal is one of 2 teams that have opened its season with 2 wins. Even though Perkins gave up a goal last week, his defensive bonuses were still enough to earn him 5 points. Their current form makes them hard to bet against, especially in a big home game against Toronto. If you’re looking for a good budget keeper, he’s a great option to grab before his price starts to rise.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
