Round 6 Advanced Transfer Tactics

In this new article at MLS Fantasy Boss, we will look at the some of the best options for setting up a Keeperoo, Autoroo, or a Transferoo for the upcoming round. For those unfamiliar with these tactics in MLS Fantasy, you can find a detailed explanation here.

Mangers should select an Over/Under value for Keeperoos and Transferoos so they know when to keep a score or when to go digging for a better options. This number is usually around the average of a potential replacement with variance on how good the replacement’s matchup looks like.

Advanced Transfer Tactics – Keeperoo

For the keeperoo, you want to pick an early game goalkeeper that you hope will have a great game. If he does, you leave the position alone. If his score doesn’t suit you, you look for a sub to put on the field from a later game.

Matt Turner, $5.7 NE

Turner isn’t exactly cheap, but he’s playing Montreal on Friday night. This is the safe bet this week since the earlier Saturday games don’t look appealing for GKs.

Over/Under

Turner’s over/under is set at 4.5. There are two quality keepers in Andre Blake and Nick Rimando following him, you can easily roll into a better score.

Evan Bush, $5.9 MTL

A road game isn’t always the best, but New England is a mixed bag on offense and Montreal has been shutting teams down. This is a bit risky, but the potential is worth it.

Over/Under

We’ll put the over/under on Evan Bush at 4.5 as well. Just like Turner, you are looking for the big first game.

Advanced Transfer Tactics – Autoroo

In short, the Autoroo involves loading your bench with two or three players and letting the automatic substitution pick the highest score or scores.  These should be your boom or bust players that can’t be predicted.

When running 3 bench players, you need 2 scrubs on the field, but only 1 if you are running two bench options. You won’t have to watch results closely here, just set these guys up on the bench and let the game do the work.

Jacori Hayes, $5.8 FCD midfielder

Hayes is averaging 6ppg which is monstrous for his price. If he can replicate his 8 point outing last game, he’s the perfect option, but even with his season low of 5, he’s a valuable option.

Jack Price, $7.7 COL midfielder

Price is averaging 6.33ppg with a pair of assists already. With the Dallas defense being a bit of a wildcard and Dominique Badji on fire, it’s worth slotting Price in just in case he snags another assist. He’s definitely ripe for a price rise.

Cristian Martinez, $5.5 CLB Midfielder

Martinez has been the year’s best autoroo player. He’s up another $0.5, but he’s still worth having for that next increase and potential production.

Wilfred Zahibo, $7.7 NE midfielder

Last but not least is Zahibo. With Lee Nguyen still absent, New England is having to find other ways to get work done. Zahibo is putting up solid numbers and significantly cheaper than Diego Fagundez.

Advanced Transfer Tactics – Transferoo

The ultimate weapon in maximizing your team value is the Transferoo. For this you pick an early game player looking for that big score, just like a goalkeeper. If you hit it right, you’ve saved a lot of money, but if the player is a bust, grab a replacement. With the power comes one major drawback. Every time you employ this strategy, you lose overall value on the field with a bench player that won’t see the field eating into your budget.

Jeisson Vargas, $7.7 MTL Midfielder

Vargas isn’t exactly expensive, but he’s definitely not cheap for this role. He’s playing New England and looks to be the new go to for Piatti with Montreal.

Over/Under

Vargas can light up the score having scored a goal in each of his last matches. He’s averaging 5.25ppg without going 90 minutes once. If he beats the over/under of 6.5 he’s a lock to stay in the lineup.

Chris McCann, $5.7 ATL midfielder

McCann isn’t lighting it up like we would like to see from a Transferoo, but his number line up well. He just put up 6 points against MNU through defensive work. 3 bonus points from clearances paid off nicely.

Over/Under

McCann just got a six, so we’ll put the over/under at 5.5 this week. If he replicates the defensive work, he’s priced perfectly to allow for another big name striker.

 Overlapping Players

It must be noted that many of the Autoroo and Transferoo players can overlap. Setting up an autoroo with two early players can turn into a transferoo if both scores are sub par. Many of the late game week autroo candidates are perfect replacements for selected transferoo players as well.
