Significant Defense and Attacking: Week 27

Even though the Double Game has not been played yet, we can still take a look at the numbers from week 26. So, here’s the list as it stands right now.

Week 26 Numbers

Defense

There were few shutouts this week, so the number of teams above average has not changed, but the order of significantly better teams has.

Last week there were 5 teams that were significantly better than the rest, this week there are only 3. Chelsea has jumped back to the top of the list followed by Tottenham and then QPR. Not a lot to say about these games Chelsea and Tottenham both only let 1 goal in this week during their home games but, sadly, QPR’s luck ran out against Swansea. a 4 to 1 beating was a big hit to their numbers. But you knew it was coming.

Sunderland and Arsenal lost their spots, but they are again right on the edge of significance. But, Arsenal plays Aston Villa in Game Week 27, so I expect they will make it back.

There are now 4 teams at the bottom. West Ham, Aston Villa, Wigan, and Newcastle. West Ham is the saddest one for me to see. I know a lot of people have their players as their value defender. Sad to see them drop so far.

Attacking

While the defensive performances may not have been that exciting last week, the attacking made up for it. Two 4-1 victories, a 3-1 victory, and the stunning 2-0 Liverpool loss to West Brom (sorry Steve). All of this brings our total of significantly significant attacking teams from 5 to 6.

Arsenal remains at the top of the list followed now by Celsea who stormed back to the top with a 4-1 victory. They are followed by Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool. All of these teams have scores that a close to each other, so fixtures should determine player choice. Arsenal and Manchesters have some good ones coming up.

At the bottom, Norwich, Reading, and Stoke. Do not want!

Good luck to everyone next week, and be sure to check out our MLS Resources and let us know if you want to join!
