2018 Round 19 Captain’s conundrum

Round 19 in the MLS is here and it’s a double game week for most sides . This week we will be looking to take advantage of this , So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Adama Diomande / LAFC / $8.8 Million / vs Houston and Orlando

Adama Diomande cannot stop scoring at the moment. A hat-trick in round 18 against the Union took his tally to seven goals in five appearances for the season. This week Diomande has a double game week and a match up against Houston and Orlando city. The Lions once again unsurprisingly took another loss to inform Atlanta last week, while the dynamos come in to round 19 off the back of a 3-2 loss to SKC.

Diomande has a perfect opportunity to punish a side who have conceded six goals in their last two games. But a tougher test against Houston is first on the agenda for LAFC though. But the forward will just want to keep playing games against anybody in the type of form he is in at the minute.

Romain Alessandrini / LA Galaxy / $9.4 Million / vs DC and Columbus

La Galaxy have a great opportunity this week to continue their good form. Three wins in their last three league games has put them third in the Western Conference. Alessandrini hasn’t hit double fantasy points in his last four games. However, the Frenchman did end his goal scoring drought last week against San Jose Earthquakes.

If the Galaxy are to pick up two wins in round 19. Then the midfielder will have to be on form. LA Galaxy face a DC side who have not won a game in four matches and have conceded seven goals in their last two league games.

Then they face a Columbus side who did managed to beat RSL 2-1 in their last game, which  will be a more difficult match on paper for LAFC. Though the Crew did give up 10 shots to RSL and the losing side did dominate possession. So, the Galaxy will be confident their attacking quality will be able to punish the Crew, if given the same opportunities as RSL.

Alberth Elis / Houston / $9.9 Million / vs LAFC and Minnesota

Alberth Elis has been out of form in recent weeks, one goal in his last four appearances is below the standard Elis was setting earlier in the season. However, Elis is another pick you has a double game week, and a good match up later in the round against Minnesota, should see him be a good choice for round 19.

LAFC will be a tough ask for Houston, though one clean sheet in seven league games from LAFC will give Elis some confidence of finding the back of the net against the LA side. Three defeats in Minnesota’s last three league games should make Houston favourites for the tie. While Elis’s involvement and opportunities to pick up fantasy points should be increased.

Zlatan Ibrahimović / LA Galaxy / $9.2 Million / vs DC and Columbus (Wildcard)

Honestly the only reason Zlatan Ibrahimović finds himself as this week’s wildcard pick, is I am unsure of the game time the Swede will see. Two games in four days may be a little too much to demand from the forward.

However, if Ibra manages 120 minutes of the 180 on offer than he should have plenty of time to impact the games. He should be looking forward to getting back out on the pitch after scoring four goals in his last two games. The Swede may also want to put on a show for his former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, who should be keeping a close eye on his new DC teammates.
