2018 Round 22 Captain’s conundrum

Round 22 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic / LA Galaxy / $10.2 Million / vs LAFC and Orlando

The Galaxy face LAFC tonight in a game which is tough to call. LAFC head into his game off the back of a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Minnesota. Which was arguably the worst performance from LAFC this season. However derby’s are notorious for providing us with strange results so picking a winner is almost impossible.

LA Galaxy have been in great form in recent weeks , they are unbeaten in seven MLS games, picking up an impressive five wins. The main man Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been hot. Seven goals in his last five games is a great return from the Swede. The last game he failed to score in was against Portland Timbers way back in round 14. This round against rivals LAFC, and Orlando is a big set of games for the Galaxy and I expect Zlatan to turn up.

Bradley Wright-Phillips / New York Redbulls / $8.8 Million / vs DC and Columbus

Will Bradley Wright-Phillips hit 100 goals this week? well tonight’s game against DC will excite the Englishman. United have not managed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 games, their last shut out came in April against Columbus. The forward’s form has started to pick up in recent weeks. Two goals in his last two games for the Redbulls has brought BWP’s tally of MLS goals to 99.

NYRB also face Columbus who will offer a more difficult task, however they have been questionable in defence of late. Letting in eight goals in their last three games, including a 4-0 hammering off LA Galaxy .While DC should be dreading facing a rampant Redbulls side who will be looking to celebrates BWP’s century of goals this weekend.

Nicolás Lodeiro / Seattle / $12.8 Million / vs San Jose and NYCFC

Nicolás Lodeiro showed his class in last weeks match against Vancouver. The midfielder scored a double in Seattle’s 2-0 win over the Canadian side in round 21. Lodeiro had been on a small goal scoring drought after failing to scoring in five matches from round 16 to 19 . However last weeks double means he has now scored three goals and got one assist in his last two games.

This week Seattle face San Jose, who will be wondering what it feels like to win a game of football. As last weeks 2-0 defeat to Montreal stretched their winless run to 10 games. So Seattle will be targeting this game. NYCFC will be a tougher task , though Lodeiro should be able to do enough in the first game against San Jose to justify his selection.

Alejandro Romero Gamarra ( Kaku) / New York Redbulls / $10.4 Million / vs DC and Columbus (Wildcard)

This weeks wildcard pick is well, not much of a wild pick at all. Kaku has proven his quality in plenty of games this season, however increasing his goal tally must to an area the midfielder improves on . Kaku last found the back of the next in round 10 against NYCFC , though the Redbulls man is still effecting games.

Two assists in his last two games should give the midfielder the confidence he needs to end his drought. He will have a very good chance against DC tonight , in a game the Redbulls will be expecting to win.
