Having trouble deciding on who to pick for your captain? Here are a few things to keep in mind. Is the team playing at home? Are there any key injuries (on either team)? Who had a good Preseason? Did Andrew Wiebe see his shadow this morning?All of these things help. Here are my top 3 choices:
1) Jermaine Defoe: Definitely one of the popular and obvious captain choices for this week. I was unsure of what to expect from Defoe before the season started, but was very pleased with what I saw last week. Do I expect 2 goals every game? No. But I don’t think much of DC’s defense so I think he has a good chance at another good home game.
2) Federico Higuain: The natural number 2 choice if you don’t have Defoe. Higuain frequently finds a way to reward his owners with respectable point totals even when he does not score. The Philly game is a big one for both teams, so I expect Columbus to bring everything they can. If not a goal, count on some bonus points.
3) Aurelien Collin: Both SKC and SJ played in the midweek CCL games this week and the Earthquakes had to go 120min. I expect to see some tired legs. Collin did not play, so he’ll be 100% for this game and could come away with a big score. I could easily see this game ending 0-0.
