Having trouble deciding on who to pick for your captain? Here are a few things to keep in mind. Is the team playing at home? Are there any key injuries (on either team)? Who had a good Preseason? Did Andrew Wiebe see his shadow this morning? All of these things help. Here are my top choices:

The DGW Picks

1) Austin Berry/Amobi Okugo: I know that clean sheets have been rare this season, but New York has been struggling this season and Houston has had a rough time on the road. The chance for defensive bonus points is better than a goal scoring spree, IMO, and if they can pull out a clean sheet, you could see a nice return. I have both Berry and Okugo because Berry is still a bit of a risk for going 180min since he just came back from injury. These are the two best defensive captain options.

2) Maurice Edu: He’s on good form, been in some good positions recently, and has a good chance to got the full 180 this week. As with most of the PHI midfield, I can’t guarantee scoring, but you should see several defensive bonus points and he is on great form right now.

The Single Game Week Players

1) Clint Dempsey: Recent form is a big reason for this pick even for an away game. Chivas is not as bad as many first expected, but Seattle has a lot of great attacking players that they will have to worry about and Dempsey will be a focal point for this attack.

2) Federico Higuain: Little needs to be said for Higuain. He’s consistent, pulls the attacking strings, and is the poster boy for consistency. He’s not given me a reason to drop out of my top 2 SGW players yet.

3) Graham Zusi: A week of rest, a home game, and a Montreal team that has not kept a clean sheet yet. Zusi is hungry for goals and should have plenty of opportunity for his usual service. If you have him and Dempsey, I don’t envy the decision you have to make.
