KFC’s Fantasy MLS Midfielder picks – Week 7

Midfielders

Last week, a couple of Chicago midfielders made it into the Dream team. While that win was great for Chicago, I think it’s safe to say that that is not something we think will be happening often. With Sporting Kansas City not playing this week, everyone’s top midfield choice will not be playing. Fortunately, Montreal is back this week and there are several other good matchups that could result in good point returns for midfielders.

Big 3
Mike Magee (DAL v LA) Brad Davis (HOU vs CHI), and Sebastien Le Toux (PHI vs TOR).

Keep reading for the rest.

David Ferreira (Dallas) vs LA
Price: $9.3m
Owned by: 10.5%

Ferreira had a rough showing last week and only returned 2 points. We think this score is not going to be common and that he is still one of the best long term choices from the Dallas midfield. LA has only had one away game, and that resulted in a draw and as we’ve seen, Dallas will also be the first tough opponent that LA has faces this season. If you’re worried about Ferreira scoring, Jackson is still a good option since he also gets defensive bonus points.

Dax McCarty (New York) vs DC United
Price: $8.1m
Owned by: 8.2%

New York’s season just seems to just seem to keep getting worse. The loss to Chicago was definitely a surprise to many people. Fortunately, Dax has gone up by $0.1 since then and looks to go up another $0.1 before this weekend. He’s on our list because of the double game in week 8, but DC is New York’s big rival and they came away with big points and a Draw when they played them earlier this season. If they can at least get that result again, his value should rise again going into the double week.

Edgar Mejia (Chivas) vs Colorado
Price: $7.2m
Owned by: 4.8%

Mejia is a guy that has been on our radar for a few weeks now. Chivas is lay well and Mejia has played almost every minuet so far. He’s capable of getting goals and assists and has a good record for bonus points from crosses. He’s also the cheapest attacking midfielder on our list. Colorado offers a good chance for Chivas to score and if you are hoping to free up some funds for the upcoming double game weeks, we think Mejia is a good option.

Differential

Diego Chara (Portland) vs San Jose
Price: $7.4m
Owned by: 1.0%

If you are looking for a true differential, Chara could be your man. He’s the second highest scorer for Portland’s midfield and had a good game last week. Portland does not have a great home record so far this season, but San Jose has a poor away record. It’s a risk, but one the might pay off.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
