2018 Round 11 Captain’s conundrum

Round 11 in the MLS is here and it’s a double game week for most sides . This week we will be looking to take advantage of this , So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Sebastian Giovinco / Toronto FC / $9.5 million / vs Seattle and New England

Toronto will be relying on Sebastian Giovinco for the next few weeks to fill the attacking void left by star man Jozy Altidore , who is out injuried for at least the next few weeks. However Giovinco is more than capable of filling the void , as he showed what a top player he is last weekend when he scored and assisted a goal in Toronto’s 3-0 victory over the Union .

This week Toronto face Seattle in the midweek clash at BMO, looking to build up some momentum and form in the league . Their results over the last few months have been effected by their involvement in the Champions League , now that is over , their focused should be fully on the MLS . Seattle head south in poor form only picking up 1 point in their last 2 games and failed to find the back of the net in both them  games. Toronto and Giovinco should relish playing the Sounders this week.

Carlos Vela / LAFC / $13.1 Million / vs Minnesota and New York City FC

Carlos Vela seems to be a good captain choice every week , and this week is no different . Vela is currently averaging above 9 points each week so far this season , So last week score of 7 would have disappointed many fantasy managers. However Vela has a perfect opportunity to repay the faith and pull out a big score against Minnesota in week 11.

LAFC face  Minnesota side , who have been in good form of late . Back to back wins against Houston and Vancouver will give them some confidence when they travel to LA . However both of them wins were at home and in their last away game United were beaten 3-1 by the Sounders and are yet to win away this year. So LAFC will be looking to continue United’s poor away form this week .

Ignacio Piatti / Montreal Impact / $12.7 Million / vs Chicago and Philadelphia

Ignacio Piatti heads into week 11 off the back of a huge game against New England Revolution last week . Piatti scored 1 and assisted 3 goals for this Impact team mates , earning himself and Fantasy managers 22 points. This week Montreal face Chicago Fire in a game they will believe they can win . Chicago have struggled recently they have only picked up 1 point from their last 2 games and haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 4 games . With Chicago’s poor defence and Piatti’s creative abilities I would expect the midfielder to have a big impact on the game.

Gyasi Zardes / Columbus Crew / $7.8 Million / vs Philadelphia and Chicago (Wildcard)

Gyasi Zardes has struggled to find the form he showed in the opening two rounds of the MLS , in recent weeks . However with 2 games in a couple of days it is a perfect opportunity for Zardes to find his form again. Zardes hasn’t scored since the game against New England in week 8 and has only two goals in his last 8 appearances. However there is still hope for the forward . Columbus face two sides who have minus goal differences and are both average in terms of defensive’s stats this year. Columbus’s first game in round 11 is against the Union who have conceded 5 goals in there last two matches , so Zardes should get a chance or two . While Zardes’s minutes have recently dropped , I would expect him to start both games and probably play 150+ minutes over the two games.
