Navigating the dynamic pricing structure in MLS Fantasy is one of the game’s most unique, and often challenging, aspects, especially early in the season. Identifying undervalued players is key to maximizing your budget and building a winning team. Player prices fluctuate weekly based on their point performance relative to their current price. While the exact factors influencing the pricing algorithm remain a mystery, general consensus suggests a major factor is a player’s performance over the previous three weeks relative to their current price.
For example, if Lionel Messi is $10m and scores 10, 14, and 12 points in consecutive weeks, his price will rise. Conversely, if he puts up a 9, 4, and 2, his price will likely drop—as long as he’s not already at the minimum of $4m. The start of the season is ripe with price discrepancies, and I’m here to help you navigate them.

Keepers
Brad Guzan ($6m)
Guzan is back for his ninth season with Atlanta United and among a batch of pricey goalkeepers, I’ve scoped him out as one of the “cheaper” undervalues players who can help build your squad. Guzan and company kick-off the season with a favorable matchup at home against Montreal, followed by five of their next seven at home. Don’t be surprised to see Atlanta keep a couple of clean sheets to start 2025.
Defenders
Hector Martinez ($4.5m)
The River Plate loanee joined Inter Miami last season and started every game he was available. At $4.5m, Martinez is a no-brainer pick to open up the budget and help spend big on another premium midfielder or forward. You aren’t just taking him because he’s dirt cheap, either—Miami should have a solid defense this year, so Martinez is in a good spot to rack up some solid points and potentially earn a few price rises.
Pedro Amador ($6.3m)
Amador is coming off his debut season in MLS after joining Atlanta United last summer. Since then, he’s been one of the most impressive attacking fullbacks in the league, creating nearly 1.5 chances per match and 4 assists in 9 matches. With Atlanta shaping up to be an attacking powerhouse this season, Amador is in prime position to deliver fantasy points at both ends of the pitch, offering great undervalues player at $6.3m.
Chidozie Awaziem ($5.5)
Awaziem joins Colorado after a short but impressive stint with FC Cincinnati. He came in and helped solidify a struggling Cincy defense while also contributing on the offensive side adding 2 assists in his 6 regular season starts. Clean sheets should be on the menu for the Rapids this season, and Awaziem gives you a cheap route into their defense with his $5.5m price tag.
Midfielders
David Martinez ($6m)
With Cristian Olivera making a move to Grêmio, Martinez is set to step in and start for LAFC. He showed flashes of potential last season when given playing time, tallying 4 goals and 2 assists in nearly 500 minutes. Even if Martinez isn’t the primary contributor, LAFC should score enough goals to leave room for him to eat alongside Bouanga and Giroud. Potential starting winger for LAFC priced at $6m? I’ll take that value all day.
Dylan Chambost ($7m)
Chambost heads into his first full season with the Crew looking to solidify himself as a key player. We saw glimpses of quality in the handful of games he played after joining last season, and I think he can unlock another level in 2025. Cucho’s departure opens the door for Chambost to become a creative outlet for the team, and with a $7m price tag he carries solid value going into the fantasy season.
Djordje Mihailovic ($7.8m)
Returning for his second season with Colorado, Djordje will look to build on what was a pretty successful 2024 where he accumulated 21 goals and assists through 29 starts. You’re getting a premium midfielder at a discount—he’s only going to cost you $7.8m. His underlying shot and goal creation stats show he should be viewed in the same light as stars such as Lucho Acosta, Carlos Gil, etc. Don’t be surprised if we see top-5 fantasy returns from Djordje this season.
Forwards
Eric Choupo-Moting ($6.3m)
Choupo-Moting joins the Red Bulls after a successful career in Europe, winning multiple league titles with both Bayern and PSG while scoring over 100 goals along the way. New York’s system looks to be a great fit for the veteran striker. With the support of Emil Forsberg and Lewis Morgan, Choupo-Moting should be left with one job—put the ball in the back of the net. If he finds form early, our fantasy teams could reap the benefits of his $6.3m price tag.
Cedric Teuchert ($7.3m)
Cedric Teuchert joined St. Louis City in the summer of last year, and wasted no time getting on the scoresheet, bagging 5 goals and assisting 4 through his 10 MLS starts. The German striker will look to find that level again in 2025, linking up with the likes of Marcel Hartel, Eduard Löwen, and Joao Klauss. Teuchert is in for a great year, and is certainly worth a look for your team at $7.3m.
Leo Campana ($7.5m)
While Campana spent much of last season in the shadow of Luis Suárez, he still found ways to shine when given the opportunity. With his move to New England in the offseason, Campana now gets his chance to be the number one guy, and he’ll have no shortage of chances with Carles Gil pulling the strings. If those two can connect early and often, his $7.5m price tag could offer great value.
