DiffeRANCHals: 2025 Round 25

Every week, we’ll go over our suggestions from last week, and determine if they were a good or bad pick based on position and points. To describe in detail the ranking system, here is the metric: bust = 3 or fewer points (or did not play), average = 4-5 points, good = 6-8 points, great = 9+ points. Double gameweeks (DGWs) are scored as follows: bust = 6 or fewer points (or not starting/on the bench), average = 7-9 points, good = 10-12 points and great = 13+ points. Players not available for selection are disregarded and not counted as either a positive or a negative in the article.

Week 24 Results:

Matt:

  • Christopher McVey – Bust (3 points)
  • Eduard Loewen- Bust (3 points)
  • Rafael Navarro- Great! (17 points)

Ranch:

  • Steven Moreira- Bust (3 points)
  • Rodrigo De Paul – Good (7 points)
  • Christian Benteke – Bust (2 point)

Welcome back to diffeRANCHals! Massive shoutout to Matt for picking the highest scorer on the week. Did anybody listen to him? Will you listen this week? This is going to be a week where instead of us trying to convince you, we are going to give our up front thoughts in a shorter version in an attempt to get you to start thinking of not only our choices, but also think of a differential on your own. Let’s get into it!

Matt: Justen Glad, $8m (Defender – Real Salt Lake)

Tani is off to Villareal and RSL will be without Luna, Gozo and Agada this week. This has a crappy 0-0 game written all over it and that only helps Glad and his BP production.

Ranch: Ronald Hernandez, $4.0m (Defender – Atlanta)

A classic diffeRANCHal at $4.0m, 0.36% ownership comes to light this week in Ronald Hernandez. Atlanta hosts a Toronto team who just signed Mihailovic. Although Atlanta rarely get clean sheets, this is a gut feeling and potential for a big score in Hernandez.

Meg: Marcelo Weigandt, $6.4m (Defender – Inter Miami )

Miami defense is hot and cold to be honest however this week they travel to DC United and things are not clicking well for their attack. Sure Benteke is still there to wreck havoc but I think if Weigandt and crew can lock things down around Tekkers, they have a big chance to hold a CS. Another thing to note is Weigandt has a tendency to generate BPs. Worth a early game CS hunt. =]

Ranch: Joseph Paintsil, $9.0m (Midfielder – LA Galaxy)

Paintsil and the Galaxy get to play against a rough Rapids defense at home after playing midweek. Although normally it would be a difficult decision to grab a player on a team who played midweek, the Galaxy are still trying to fight for a playoff spot. Paintsil has been playing well and has a good chance to score again this weekend.

Meg: Ashley Westwood, $7.0m (Midfielder – Charlotte FC)

Last week Westwood started at the ten and managed to snag 9 points. If he continues to start here during the absence of Biel, I think he is worth considering as a differential. NYRB defense should place most of their focus on Zaha which should allow some linking up between Westwood and Toklomati for some nice chances on goal. He could be a scrub if your bench pans out as well.

Matt: Alexey Miranchuk, $9.7m (Midfield – Atlanta)

Toronto are getting better, but won’t have all their new pieces yet. MIranchuk is going to have a ton of space to operate and create for the players around him.

Meg: Sam Surridge, $12.7m (Forward – Nashville)

Nashville and Orlando City have a history between one another. With Nashville hosting OC this week and Surridge’s push for staying in contention in the race for the Golden Boot, Surridge has got to find a way to score some bangers this week. Early enough in the Saturday game slate that he would make a great candidate as a bench punt!

Matt: Wilfred Zaha, $11.9m (Forward – Charlotte)

I like this matchup against NYRB a lot for Charlotte and Zaha’s production has improved with the injury to Biel. Zaha should be the one creating the most for this Charlotte attack and will probably find himself with a fair amount of KPs and goal involvement opportunities.

Ranch: Hugo Cuypers, $11.5m (Forward – Chicago)

Is there ever a right or wrong time to take Cuypers? It’s a difficult decision sometimes, yet Cuypers continues to score goals like they’re going out of style. This week Chicago is on the road to the Union, who is another team that leaks goals. Cuypers has a great chance to bag another goal for his golden boot chase.
