Welcome to the GW3 edition of Player Punts! I hope all of you had a stellar week. I totaled 78 points and moved up to 1,748 in the rankings. This week and next, I will be focusing on getting prepared for the DGW4 (FCD/NER/DCU/VAN). There are some great value players that are not only undervalued, but extremely low ownership %. First things first, let’s take a look and see how I did last week with my punts.
- GK – Rowe LAG – 7 Total points. 90 Min played (2),7 Saves (2),Def BP (3)
- DEF – Coehlo SKC – 4 Total points, 90 Min Played (2), Pass Completion (2)
- DEF – Moor TFC – 3 Total points. 90 Min Played (2), Goals Conceded (-1), Defending BP (2)
- MID- Morales VAN – 7 Total points. 90 Min Played (2), Goals Scored (5)
- MID- Accam CHI – 7 Total Points. 90 Min Played (2), YC (-1), Goals Scored (5), Def BP (1)
- FWD- Bruin HOU – 7 Total Points. 90 Min Played (2), Goals Scored (5)
Total Punt Points – 35 Points
With the rapid approach of our first DGW, I’ll include some DGW options in my punts this week who will hopefully help you do some early prep and score you some differential points before everyone else flocks to get them.
Keepers
- Worra (DCU – 4.1 Mil @ 14.4 % Ownership): Yes, this breaks rule #1 of a punt(< 5% Ownership), but come on man!!! Worra should’ve been in you’re lineups since GW1. With a price tag of 4.1 Mil, and the recent news that Dykstra will require back surgery( http://www.blackandredunited.com/dc-united-2016-season/2016/3/15/11242452/dc-united-andrew-dykstra-travis-worra-charlie-horton ), Worra should be in everyone’s lineup. DCU have COL, FCD, sj for the next 3 games. Worra is a not only a great backup to have, but his price tag is to good to pass up.
- Shuttleworth (NER – 5.6 Mil @ 4.4 % Ownership): Shuttleworth has perfeormed admirably over the past 2 GW. Scoring 3 and 8 points with 1 CS. NER play phi, nyc & NYRB in the next 3 matches. I can see a ton of saves for Shuttleworth in the DGW. Saves=POINTS!!! The matchups may not pass the eye test, but don’t let that fool you. NER is one of the most underrated teams defensively this year, and we all know the rule about DGW’s…get as many players as possible!
- Lampson (CHI- 4.5 Mil @ 1.5 % Ownership): CHI is not good at all defensively, but Lampson is averaging 5 Saves a game. For a cheap starter, Lampson/Worra combo could be a good bet if you’re looking for a SGW option before you WC.
Defenders
- Kemp (DCU – 7.6 Mil @ 1.9 % Ownership): Kemp is my sneaky pick up defensively. He defends, attacks, assists and occasionally scores. As for schedule, just reread what I mentioned about Worra above.
- Colvey (SJ – 4.5 Mil @ 2.7 & Ownership): Colvey is a cheap SGW placeholder until Francis returns. Colvey is an attacking WB and if he performs like he did last game, Francis may be out of a spot!
Midfielders
- Neagle (DCU – 7.5 Mil @ 4.0 Ownership): Neagle had one of his best seasons in 2014 scoring 157 Points. Neagle seems to have found a starting and consistent role at DCU. Considering we all probably have heavy hitters in our midfield, Neagle could be a great replacement for your 7-8 Mil SGW starters. He is a great DGW plug and play option.
- Hollingshead (FCD – 5.9 Mil @ 12.3% Ownership): Yes I know, I did it again. I broke the #1 rule of Punts…Im just trying to help you guys out here!! Hollingshead could possibly play RB for Harris. If he does, he will be a Mid playing OOP as a defender. He is one to keep an eye on
- Goosens (CHI – 7.0 Mil @ 0.6 % Ownership): THE GOOSE IS LOOSE!! In his debut, Goose scored 6 Points (Assist (3), 72 Min Played (2), Attacking BP (1), and looked to be heavily involved in the CHI attack. For people that cant afford Accam, and are looking for a cheap SGW way into Chicago’s attack, you’re welcome.
Forwards
- To be honest, none of the DGW fwds intrigue me. Maybe Rivero?
- Gashi (COL – 8.9 Mil @ 1.5 % Ownership): Gashi was a proven player with FC Basel before coming to MLS. It does take time to adjust to the physicality of this league, but Gashi seems to have already done that. I can see him putting up solid numbers this SGW against DCU.
