Week 7 summary

Well first of all, I’m happy to say that our team did much better this week than in week 6. After all the dust settled, we had 86 points which was 40 points higher than the average. Good performances from Davis (c) and Olave were key. There were still some disappointments. Higuain is at the top of that list. We still like him but not the slump in form he has been in recently. Taylor was also a letdown, expected a CS from the Houston defense. Magee… well, we were not surprised, we expected him to start going downhill. We have an easy solution to deal with this.

Week 8 Changes

Last week we started some prep for week 8, this week we were quick to complete that prep by grabbing all of the players before they had a chance to rise. In total we made 4 trades. Three of these were free trades and one cost us a -4. Usually we want to minimize these negatives, but since all of these players have a double game, the -4 is easily made up by their game points (if they play 180min).

Our first two trades were to improve out back line. We decided that, even though they have 2 away games, we liked the SKC defense enough to make a serious investment in it this week. So we dropped Galuber and Jermaine Taylor (who have away games) and added Aurélien Collin and Matt Besler. We believe that their defensive numbers will bring some nice returns this week.

Trade three was made in our midfield. It may come as a surprise to some, but we have been waiting for the time when we could drop Magee. We always thought his early performance was lucky and benefited from the injury Keane had. We also needed to free up the money to bring in our other DGW players. To replace Magee we brought in Joaquin Oscar of Chivas. He is not our ideal Chivas Midfielder, but at $4.0m, he gave us the cash we needed. Also, we plan on playing a 5-4-1 mostly, so he will spend his time on our bench.

Finally, our fourth trade was to our front line. After two poor games, Higuain was one the verge of losing value. We do not put value over points, but since we had been debating bringing in a DGW forward, it worked out that we could shoot for both this time. Since we already had 3 SKC players, that left one option, Thierry Henry. We think he has a good chance to score, even though there are rumors that he may not play a full 180min. This is the one I may regret after, just because it puts our DGW forward against our DGW defenders.

For our keeper, we’re going with Irwin. Seattle has been in poor form and we think he has a good chance to keep his run up. That means we’ll have Earnshaw and Brown on the bench along with Joaquin Oscar. There is a chance that our team may change slightly before deadline because we will swap Jackson for one of our forwards. But the core has been set.

Week 9 Prep

We’re pretty happy with our current team, so there are not a lot of changes planned for week 9. After this week, we’ll be taking a look at our keepers and we’ll start to decide who we want for the double game week in week 11. Our goal is to have 11 double game week players.

So that’s the KFC team for Week 7. What do you think? How did your team do? Want input on your team? Stop by r/FantasyMLS and post. There are many good members who can help out with questions. We are also now on Twitter @FantasyMLSTips. Feel free to tweet us too.
