In our Keeper article, we mentioned that we did not recommend bringing in a NY or SKC player if you wanted double game week coverage. That does not extend to out defender picks. There are several defenders that we think are ideal for this week and through Week 11 and beyond. Two of these picks are in our Big 3. Collin (SKC) and Olave (NY) both have excellent bonus numbers and are in the top 5 point earners so far this season. For the rest of this article, we’ll focus on players you can use to round off your team.
Big 3
Omar Gonzalez (DAL v LA), Aurélien Collin (DGW), and Jamison Olave (DGW).

A Dallas Defender (Dallas) vs Vancouver
Price: $5.5m – $5.8m
Owned by: Under 14.5%
In case you have missed a few games, Dallas is doing quite well. Only Montreal is on par with their form and they have a bye this week. There are 2 main options that stand out to us, Matt Hedges and Michel Pereira. One is defensive and the other offensive (Michael plays a more midfield role). We really don’t think you can go wrong with either one. If you have some extra cash, Geaorge John is the 3rd option. They do not have a double game this week, but they have one in Week 11 (and a bye in week 20). So get them now while they are relatively low cost.
Matt Besler (Kansas City) vs New York/Los Angeles
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 18.0%
If you are trying to have three SKC players this week (assuming you haze Zusi), Besler is a good option. He shares the center role with Collin and has very good defensive bonus point generation. We also think he’s a much better option than Benny Feilhaber. He’s cheaper, has more points, and a higher point average (especially if you take out the 2 assist outlier for Feilhaber). If you are just hoping for clean sheets we also like Myers.
A.J. Soares (New England) vs New York
Price: $5.0m
Owned by: 9.9%
New England does not have a double game this week, and New York will most likely be a challenging game for them. What they have going for them is a pretty decent schedule leading into a double game in week 11. Soares is just a few points behind Goncalves (another good NE pick) and is $0.6m less. If you are interested in doing some team value building and week 11 prep (or play a 4 man backline) Soares could be a good investment.
Differential
Marvell Wynne (Colorado) vs Seattle
Price: $5.0m
Owned by: 2.4%
It seems like a lot of Colorado players have been making it onto our differential list lately. I think that says some good things about the future of that team. Wynne is the best defender they have. He has good bonus point generation and he’s played 90min every game. With a couple of wins under their belt, I’m sure the Rapids will want to impress at home.

I had saved my transfer last week. So, I have 3 transfers right now. Used 2 of them to do Higuain TO Henry, and Le Toux TO McCarty, which leaves me with:
Irwin
Colin, Olave, Ashe, Hedges
Magee, Zusi(c), McCarty, Davis
Henry, Earnshaw
BENCH: Cudicini, Brown, Iraheta, Korb
BANK: 0.0 m
Now, should I use that one transfer to bring in a 6th DGW players(SKC player, that is). Who then? Or should I save it, and have 5 DGWers. Thanks.
I see you have posted on the /r/FantasyMLS site as well. I have similar opinions that Cullly does for this.
I think Rosell is a good midfield option to bring in and I actually dropped Magee this week. That was before the news about some LA injuries though, so keeping him could be worth it another week.
Saving a trade can also be a great advantage, especially going into the big double game week in week 11.
