KFC’s Fantasy MLS Forward picks – Week 6

 Forwards

So here’s my problem with the Big 3 this week, only two of them are really people who I would consider owning and even then, only one that I would want to play. Forwards have just been so inconsistent with points so far this season. You really need someone who is able to generate bonus points from crosses and passes or even some defensive actions. There is only one player who does that, Higuain. He’s the best forward that can be recommended period at this point. I’ll make the case for others below, but I view them more as 2nd picks or backups for bye weeks.

Big 3
Chris Wondolowski (SJ v VAN), Federico Higuaín (CLB vs PHI), and Robert Earnshaw (TOR vs DAL).

Keep reading for the rest.

Thierry Henry (New York) vs Chicago
Price: $10.3m
Owned by: 13.6%

Henry is easily someone who would normally make it into the Big 3, but with New York being in poor form, and Henry having a recent injury, his ownership numbers have going down. Henry’s bonus numbers are low so he needs to score, so now the good and the bad. This bad news: Henry has only scores once this season. The good news: Chicago is in worst form that New York and that should give Henry a good chance to score.

Will Bruin (Houston) vs Portland
Price: $8.7m
Owned by: 10.3%

Bruin is our only other forward pick (along with Henry) who is playing an away game this weekend. Unlike Henry though, he’s in good form right now getting 1 assist and 1 goal in his last his last two games. They will be playing at Portland, which can be intimidating, but the Timbers have not been very good at keeping clean sheets this year.

Claudio Bieler (Kansas City) vs DC United
Price: $8.7m
Owned by: 10.3%

Agudelo’s ownership almost doubled from last week. That says a lot about the kind of form that Chivas is in and the confidence people have in them, I mean, you would not spend $8.2m on a bench warmer. He’s earned 2 goals an 1 assist, which makes him the 2nd highest scoring player on Chivas’s team. This guy is all attack, so don’t expect many bonus points from him, but he’s one of the best chances Chivas has for goals.

Claudio Bieler (Kansas City) vs DC United
Price: $9.3m
Owned by: 8.1%

Bieler’s dry spell came to an end last week when he scored the opening goal for Kansas City’s 2-0 win over Vancouver, and if you did not see that game, it was a surprise that he did not grab at least 1 more. He’s in good form at a good time because DC can be a tough team. But, SKC is playing at home and has a lot of good midfielders to provide service to Bieler.

Differential

Deshorn Brown (Colorado) vs Real Salt Lake
Price: $6.1m
Owned by: 14.9%

Brown comes in as out differential for a similar reason as last week. Low cost and playing a home game. If you need to free up some cash, grabbing brown is an ideal pick.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
