Three. That’s the number of clean sheets there were this past weekend. If you were lucky enough to have one of those keepers, then you were one of the lucky ones. There were still a few who got decent returns based on saves, so maybe that took the sting out of it for many others. Week 6 has 5 teams on a bye week. There are several popular keeper picks that will not be available because of this. Fortunately, DC and Columbus are back and that helps.
Big 3
Bill Hamid (SKC v DC), Jimmy Nielsen (SKC vs DC), and Tally Hall (POR vs HOU).
Keep reading for the rest.
Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) vs Colorado
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 12.6%
If the above list was for the big 4, then Rimando would be on that. But, with many normal (lower ownership) choices on a bye, he makes this list easily. The one goal he gave up against Seattle was beyond his control. Good shots happen. But Colorado should be an easier game for the RSL defense and Rimando stands a good chance at coming away with a clean sheet.
Andy Gruenebaum (Columbus vs Philadelphia
Price: $5.3m
Owned by: 7.6%
Columbus and Philly are pretty evenly matched. But Gruenebaum has the advantage has being behind the tallest defensive unit in the league and one that is in pretty good form. He’s made a few big saves this year and could be called to do that again. But Columbus has the ability to step up and will want to impress their home crowd.
Clint Irwin (Colorado) vs Real Salt Lake
Price: $4.1m
Owned by: 3.9%
I’ll be honest with everyone; Irwin is not likely to get you a clean sheet. But everyone gets at least 3 trades this week, so if you are looking to trim your budget, he is an ideal pick. He’ll be starting for a while, and will let you more about $1.0m+ to other areas in your team. He also has the ability to gain some value to help raise your budget. Pick him for value, not for points.
Differential
Luis Robles (New York) vs Chicago
Price: $5.5m
Owned by: 1.6%
New York has struggle this year, but not as much as Chicago. This could be one of the easier away games the New York will have this year and they will try to keep up the momentum they got from last weeks win.
These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
