MLS Fantasy Boss Round 1 Team
Keepers
After a lot of thought about keeper rotations, I decided to go with only one. Until about an hour ago that guy was Ousted, but I switched to Deric because I like the Columbus match up and it freed up an extra $0.5m.
Defenders
I tried to find a balance between big CBs and a budget back line. I have been very high on Waston all preseason, but had to drop him to free up money for my forwards. However, I did bring in teammate Kah because I still like their schedule and I was already without Ousted. Opara was an easy pickup due to his 2013 production and has been in my team for a long time. Finally, with the Zimmerman being a highly questionable tarter for Dallas, I had to find another option and I settled on Ramos.
I also went with one defensive bench player. With Ellis and Myers both being injured for SKC, Dia looks set to be a starter and I like the idea of a bench player being able to get me some cash.
Midfielders
Here’s where the flood gates of money started to open. I originally had five midfielders but switched to four in order to have three forwards (more below). Pedro Morales (Porales) has been in my team from day 1. I like how he ended 2014, his involvement with the attack, and his preseason performance. I also knew that I wanted a Dallas midfielder, in the end I went with Diaz because when he is healthy, I think he has more points potential than Castillo or Michel. My choice to add Davis was heavily influences from MLS Fantasy Boss live chat. He always has excellent point production and, as mentioned before, is playing against a weakened New England. Ishizaki was the last player I added before I wrote this article. He should be involved with more set plays without Donovan and already had a good scoring record from 2014. I’m hoping for a good linkup with Keane and Zardes.
Forwards
Here’s where I spend the big money. Keane is a classic scoring machine and Oba is playing a New England team weakened without Jermaine Jones and Lee Nguyen. Both should be excellent anchors for my attack. After much back and forth, I finally decided on a Philly striker and I’m hoping to take advantage of the good form Wenger has been on during a promising game against Colroado.
Captain
For most of the preseason, I had the “C” on Porales, but I agree with others that Toronto could get off to a better start than some think, so I decided that Keane would be the better choice.
