This is going to be a fun round. It’s a massive double-game week with plenty of good matchups, so we won’t be lacking viable options. It’s the kind of round that could make or break your season, depending on how far you stray from the chalk. That said, a couple of sage differentials on your bench could easily launch you upward in the standings.
You’ll notice the defender rankings for Round 21 are almost exclusively attacking fullbacks and wingbacks, set piece takers, and/or those expected to play out of position. Yeah, there are a few teams with relatively favorable clean sheet odds, but with how rare and unpredictable clean sheets seem to be this season, and how good some of the attacking matchups are this round, I’m opting to view points earned for a clean sheet like most people view sprinkles on a donut – a nice bonus if most of them don’t simply fall off. Basically, my advice is to go for defensive attacking returns in order to mitigate all the inevitable busted clean sheets.
Note:(?) means the player might not start due to injury, lack of fitness, availability status or loss of starting spot. (OOP) means the player is expected to play out of position.(YCW) means the player is one caution away from suspension.
