Round 30. The penultimate round of FMLS. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! Not only are you officially an FMLS sicko, but you’ve also managed to avoid fantasy burn out, which is, at least for me, the most difficult part of this game. Multiple times in the last few years I’ve regrettably tanked my season in the last handful of rounds because I just couldn’t keep up, or had one bad week that put me on tilt, or got a little too clever with differentials trying to move up a few spots. Twice I’ve missed out on a prize by a single point. I came into this season with the specific goal of avoiding the burn out, constantly reminding myself that this is indeed a marathon and not a sprint, and I’m poised to have my second best finish ever.
If you’re currently in a prize position, it’s time to play it safe. Don’t swing too hard or you might find yourself crashing out of the top 50. If you’re just outside a prize position, it’s time for some calculated risks and clever bench plays. Only 35 points separate 50th from 100th, and anything can happen in this league.
It’s another mini double game week, and you’ll find assets from both teams on the double heavily represented in the rankings. It’s also a week for midfielders, with many of the big names and heavy hitters having favorable matchups, and I’ve bumped up the midfielder rankings a couple extra spots to accommodate. If you’re looking to gain some ground, consider going with one of the sgw attacking midfielders rather than a second (or third) dgw mid that would otherwise be a relatively safe play. Sure, Busquets will likely get you 8-10 points, practically guaranteed, but he doesn’t have the ceiling of someone like Ojeda or Evander. If you’re going to swing, swing for the high ceiling.
Note:(?) means the player might not start due to injury, lack of fitness, availability status or loss of starting spot. (OOP) means the player is expected to play out of position. (YCW) means the player is one booking away from suspension. (+) means the player is ranked only if they become available for selection before their match locks.
