Last week was busy for MLS. We had the Super Draft, several big trades, and the release of the 2017 Regular Season Schedule. This is great news if you’ve been patiently waiting for the the start of the 2017 MLS Fantasy Manager game because it’s given me the first bits of information needed to make my first stab at predicting the 2017 Fantasy Schedule.
DISCLAIMER
Now let me be perfectly clear. I have NO KNOWLEDGE of what the actual schedule will be when games kickoff on March 3rd. Also, I have no knowledge of any rules changes or be weeks.
First Thoughts
- Bye Rounds: Mostly focused into single rounds instead of scattered over the entire season. Love it!
- DGW: Seems similar to 2016 with the majority clusters in the middle of the season
- Toronto: Still starts on the road, but far fewer than in 2015 and 2016.
- 34 Rounds: The MLS season has been 34 round since 2011. Obviously one more round will need to be added and that means one of the DGW rounds will be broken up. At this point, I’m not sure which one (maybe during the Gold Cup) so I’m just leaving Round 34 as a place holder.
Now that all of this is out of the way, here’s the first draft of the 2017 Fantasy Season Schedule. As we get closer to the start of the season, I’ll make followup up posts to reflect any information we find out regarding the fantasy game or the inevitable adjustments that always happen to the schedule.
So stay tuned for updates and I hope you all are starting to get excited about the 2017 MLS Season and the return of the MLSF Fantasy Manager game.
Thank you for doing all the leg work! I’ve been MLS fantasizing the past 3 years and been getting better at it with each and every season…can’t wait for 2017 to begin.
Hopefully with all the new transparency the league has been showing of late, they’ll improve on their weekly Injury Reports.
I hope not, I enjoy watching Mike working his arse off just to get one piece of information that is reliable from any MLS manager. 😉
