Round 16 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.
Sebastian Giovinco / Toronto / $11.5 Million / vs DC United
Sebastian Giovinco put in a decent performance in round 15. Giovinco helped his side to the win, with an assist in Toronto’s win over Philadelphia. His assist against the union makes that one goal and two assists in his last two games. This week the Italian has the perfect opportunity to continue his good form when Toronto face DC United in round 16.
DC United are among the lowest scores in the Eastern Conference and head in to the game against Toronto off the back of a 2-1 defeat against Seattle last week. Toronto will be favourites for this tie and for good reason, plus Giovinco should be a lot more involved than last week.
Federico Higuain / Columbus / $10.7 Million / vs Atlanta
Federico Higuain has picked up his form since his poor performance in round 13. A minus 2-point scoring week against Sporting KC would have raised eyebrows by fantasy owner’s, but Higuaín’s form is returning. One goal and two assists in his last two games have returned an average point return of 11, which is impressive.
In round 16 Columbus face Atlanta, which on paper seems a tough task for the Crew. Though Atlanta have not kept a clean sheet in the league since week eights game against LA Galaxy. Their poor defensive record is currently at eight games without a clean sheet and, with Columbus’s attacking threat it will more than likely continue in round 16.
Bradley Wright-Phillips / NYRB / $11.8 Million / vs Seattle
The forward has had a disappointing last few rounds. One goal in his last three games will be a ratio Bradley Wright-Phillips will be looking to improve on against Seattle. The sounders head into round 16 off the back of a 2-1 win over DC United last week. The victory over DC ended a losing streak of three games.
So, Seattle should head in to the game inform and with confidence. The Red bulls and Wright-Phillips have lost a little bit of the form they showed at the start of the season, however a game against Seattle at home should be a great opportunity to get back to winning ways.
Victor Vazquez / Toronto / $9.7 Million / vs DC United
Victor Vazquez earned fantasy owners eight points last week, which hopefully will be a sign of a more consistent return from Vazquez. The midfielder has been in good form in his last two games, one goal and two assists has been a good return from Vazquez. This week is another great opportunity for the midfielder to continue his good form.
