Round 27’s captain rankings are here. A short single game week in the middle of the international break and Vela is doubtful because of his recent injury. Who else do you look at to fix your captaincy woes?
1) Diego Valeri
Valeri has really picked up form in this recent run of home games and has shown us glimpses of his old self. He has 2 goals in the last 2 games and SKC will be missing some key players due to international duty. So it shouldn’t be surprising if Valeri extends his recent scoring streak to 3 games.
2) Maxi Moralez
An NYCFC team that is missing almost it’s entire defense Vs a New England team that is almost at its full strength makes for an interesting matchup. This game could end 2-2 or 0-0 and go either way. Moralez is still expected to be the focal point of the NYCFC attack and will be their best bet to create opportunities.
3) Gustavo Bou
Bou has made an immediate impact since signing for New England. They’ve lost only once in the last 16 games and Bou has scored a goal or assist in all of his games except one. He doesn’t have any big scores but has 4 goals in the same number of games and its a good bet that he might score again against a depleted NYCFC defense.
4) Nicolas Lodeiro
Not the best player away from home but the Rapids give away a lot of possession and that is one of the requirements which is necessary for Lodeiro to thrive. Seattle will be missing important players in their offense like Ruidiaz, Morris and Roldan so they will be relying heavily on Lodeiro to score goals and to get them 3 points.
5) Carles Gil
Gil disappointed against Toronto last week but has still been heavily involved in goals for New England. A weakened NYCFC defense gives him an opportunity to get on the scoresheet and continue his good form again.
