Round 29’s Captain rankings are here. Only 3 weeks are left for the end of the fantasy season. Will you go safe with a popular captain pick to maintain your rank or will you go differential to try and increase your rank?
1) Josef Martinez
Martinez has scored in 14 consecutive games in a row in a run that started in May. He has scored 20 goals in this bull run and if he scores in both the games this week against FC Cincinnati and San Jose Earthquakes then I will be more than happy with him being my captain.
2) Diego Valeri
If you feel like Martinez’s goal-scoring run is going to come to an end soon then Valeri is your guy. He has 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 games and another two home games this week against Minnesota United and New York Red Bulls who let up 4 goals in their away match last week against the sounders. Valeri was unlucky to blank against D.C. united in a game which they dominated.
3) Nicolas Lodeiro
Lodeiro hasn’t been in the best form lately but it’s the same with FC Dallas. Lodeiro has shown us his potential when he plays at home but he has very average production away from home. That might change this week as D.C. United’s bunker ball will help Lodeiro pick up some bonus points.
4) Raul Ruidiaz
A bit more expensive than Morris, Ruidiaz had 3 goals and 2 assists in his last three games before last week and I expect him to continue his merry ways this week against FC Dallas and D.C. United.
5) Carlos Vela
Vela isn’t on a run as crazy as Martinez but goals in 5 consecutive games (6 goals and 2 assists in total) is still very impressive. Toronto hasn’t kept a clean sheet in 11 games and plays Montreal in the Canadian Championship final three days before LAFC so I don’t think that’s going to change this week. A bit big on the pockets especially in a double game-week but I believe that he will be worth it.
