Gameweek 2: Injury and suspension report

Injury and suspension report

Injuries can have a big impact on a fantasy lineup. Not only can they impact your score by providing under the radar options, but replacements often come in at a lower price point and can make it easier to field a full roster. Each week I’ll review key injuries and help you find replacements that can give you an edge over your fantasy opponents.

Atlanta United FC

The absence of Franco Escobar (6.0M) leaves an even bigger hole in a already depleted Atlanta United backline that lacks depth, add CCL into that mix and Atlanta’s defense won’t be sturdy as it usually is, if he doesn’t make it to the Cincinnati game, Miles Robinson (5.1M) should hold onto the right center back spot.  One should pay attention the squad and rotation for the CCL match @Monterrey tho because Bello (4.5M) is expected to start in either the CCL or the MLS game. The biggest loss for Atlanta is still Julian Gressel (8.7M) who suffered a ankle injury in training and he should be replaced by Hector Villalba (8.1M). Mikey Ambrose (4.6M) is also in contention to start for Atlanta.

Chicago Fire

None

FC Cincinnati

Greg Garza (5.5M) is set to miss out the match against Atlanta and will be replaced by Mathieu Deplagne (5.4M).

Colorado Rapids

Axel Sjӧberg’s 1 game suspension makes Colorado’s defensive crisis even more worse. There is a lack of fit center backs in Colorado right now and the only positive news is that Tommy Smith (5.0M) might be back for the game @Seattle and will replace Axel Sjӧberg (4.6M).

Columbus Crew SC

FC Dallas

DC United

Houston Dynamo

Peña (5.0M) will serve the 2nd game of his two game suspension for violent conducted earned last season  and Vera (5.6M) will serve his 1 game suspension against the Impact.

LAFC

LA GALAXY

Alessandrini (10.1M) suffered a hamstring injury and was subbed off in the Chicago game. It’s a huge blow to the Galaxy who have lost their most important playmaker and it’s anyone’s guess about who replaces Alessandrini, Jonathan Dos Santos? Cuello? Álvarez?

Minnesota United

Montreal Impact

New England Revolution

New York City FC

New York Red Bulls (On a bye)

Kemar Lawrence (6.5M) played 45 minutes against Atletico Pantoja in the first leg of the first round game in the CCL but hasn’t featured on the team sheet since the past 3 games.  Lade (4.5M) or Murillo (7.2M) should start in his place.

Orlando City SC

Philadelphia Union

None

Portland Timbers

Real Salt Lake

San Jose Earthquakes

Seattle Sounders

None

Sporting KC

Espinoza (7.1M) received a red card against LAFC and is suspended for the game Vs Philadelphia. Rowe (6.7M) and Croizet (6.0M) are in contention for his spot but Rowe should win it. Fontas (5.5M) is also in contention for a spot in the starting XI Vs Philadelphia. Don’t forget that they play a CCL game @Independiente and keep an eye on any important changes in the XI and subs.

Toronto FC (On a bye)

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

The return of Russell Teibert (6.0M) is a huge boost to this young Vancouver Whitecaps squad. Certainly more experienced than most of the youngins, his experience and leadership is going to be vital to this team.
