KFC’s Fantasy MLS Forward picks – Week 4

Forwards

Forwards have been pretty hit of miss so far this season. In a couple of the fantasy circles we hang around in, people have been talking about the benefits of the 4-5-1 and 5-4-1 formations. It’s worth a look and we’ll try to address it in a future post. For now… there are some forwards who could have some good games this week due to injuries and International duty.

Big 3
Chris Wondolowski (SJ v SEA), Federico Higuaín (DC vs CLB), and Thierry Henry (MON vs NY).

Keep reading for the rest.

Kenny Cooper (Dallas) vs Real Salt Lake
Price: $9.4m
Owned by: 7.3%

Cooper has not generated the numbers as much as we expected at the start of the year, but as past posts have mentioned, RSL has lost a lot of its back line to international duty and injuries. This is definitely an advantage for Dallas who have not taken a big attacking hit for this week. More than half of Coopers shots have been on goal, so he could give the backup keeper a workout.

Claudio Bieler (Kansas City) vs New England
Price: $9.2m
Owned by: 6.9%

We all know that Zusi is the play maker for RSL, and with him gone, other players will be looked to to step up. Bieler is an obvious choice. He started the season with two great games and he’s number 11 for shots so far this season. He’s also a DP for SKC. New England is still settling in as a team but hey are at home so that could make this game a little tougher for SKC.

Juan Agudelo (Chivas) vs Chicago
Price: $8.0m
Owned by: 5.9%

Normally, I would consider Chivas players differential choices only. But, they have been impressive in their last two games. They are playing an away game against a suffering Chicago this week. Johnson is out, and that’s a blow to the Chicago defense and an opening for Chivas. It’s one that Agudelo may be able to take advantage of.

Differential

Adam Jahn (San Jose) vs Seattle
Price: $5.5m
Owned by: 1.9%

Sean Jose is really hurting from International duty, injuries, and poor form from some key players. Adam Jahn came in late in game 2 for Fucito and then played the entire game 3. This week Fucito is out on international duty Jahn seems to be the clear choice. Seattle will not be the easiest game, but Jahn is the only active player who has scored a “regular” goal for San Jose. I’m also going to give a quick shout out to Deshorn Brown if people are looking for a more permanent differential player. His cost is $5.8, ownership is 8.9% and he’s currently 4th in shots and 3rd in shots on goal.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
