KFC’s MLS Fantasy Captain picks – Week 5

captain-MLSIf you’re like us, you are breathing a sigh of relief to see so many players coming back from international duty injury free (sorry Keane owners). We’re down one of our normal captain picks this week, but we have a lot of the regulars back. The only concern many people will have is are the internationals fit enough for a full 90min? We think many of them are but would love to hear your thoughts. Keep reading to see our picks.

Options

  • Omar Gonzalez
Gonzalez is returning from two excellent games with the USMNT. Will this put him on a list to be rested? Not sure, but if not, he should again slide into a key spot for the LA defense and could rack up some good points if they can keep a clean sheet against Toronto.
  • Mike Magee
Magee owners were able to let out a sigh of relief when he scored the easy PK last week. He still played well, but most of the action was focused on the youngsters up front. Keane might not be making it back this week so Magee will once again be looked to for a leadership role.
  • David Ferreira
Managers have a few options if you are looking for a captain from FC Dallas. Ferreira is definitely one of the most consistent point earners. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in the last 4 games. This makes him a very tempting option even when playing away at New England.
  • Sebastien Le Toux
If you are looking for an offensive Midfielder, but don’t own Zusi, Le Toux should be a very tempting option for you. How many other players can you name who have a goal or an assist in every game they played? Form – Check. Opponent – Well, you never know what team will show up.
  • Juan Agudelo
Agudelo is the point man for the reinvigorated Chivas USA. He’s all offense and has earned 2 goals and an assist over 4 games. They will be hosting Vancouver, who is not pushovers. This looks like a pretty even match and so giving an edge to the home team (especially when they are on a good run of form) is never inappropate.
  • Graham Zusi
I know some are questioning if or how much he will play this weekend. But we still feel that he should get a good long look if you own him. He’s the heart of the SKC offense and is coming off of two great International performances. Montreal has shown that they can win on the road, and SKC should want to field the strongest team it can/

Top 3

  • Graham Zusi
We just can’t pass up Zusi when he is fit. We expect him to play this one and return his normal excellent amount of bonus points.
  • Mike Magee
If Keane does indeed not play, then we think Magee will be the heart of the LA attacking force again.
  • Sebastien Le Toux
Good form for Le Toux and poor form for NY helped us make of number 3 pick.

Runner-up

  • Deshorn Brown
Portland has not been known for keeping clean sheets and Brown loves to shoot. Perhaps he’ll be able to get some in the back of the net this week.

So who do you think is a must have? Vote now and let everyone know.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Good Luck!
