Round 25’s captain rankings are here. Carlos Vela is the obvious captain choice this week with two home games but I will name another 4 captain choices for those who would like to test their luck this week.
1) Carlos Vela
There is little doubt on whether you should captain Vela or not, especially when he plays 2 games at home. He has already broken the goals+assists record this season with 9 games to go. There is absolutely no reason why you would want to take the risk with any other captain.
2) Héber Araujo dos Santos
Heber has been impressive in the last few games and has a goal/assist in 8 of the last 9 games. His tally is up to 9 goals and 2 assists in the last 9 games. Heber is up against two defenses with woeful form this week in Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls. His form and guarantee of more minutes put him above Maxi Moralez.
3) Eduard Atuesta
Atuesta has been such a consistent player fantasy-wise that he is now the second most expensive midfielder behind Gil. He has a higher floor compared to most of the other players and is also involved in goals now and then. He has 1 goal and 4 assists in his last 6 games and is guaranteed 90 minutes in almost every game.
4) Maxi Moralez
This isn’t the same Moralez that used to be very reliable and a constant feature in teams almost every week. His form has been up and down in recent weeks and there have also been doubts about his playing time with Moralez playing 90 minutes only once in the last 4 games. Moralez is one of the players that could be passed on this week.
5) Adama Diomande
Diomande has solidified his position as the main striker after the departure of Ramirez to Houston and he has a good opportunity at home to get some goals for himself. He doesn’t have the best form with 2 goals and 1 assist in the last 4 games but he should score with Vela and Rossi setting up some good goal scoring opportunities for him.
