The Spring season has come to an end and we now know what some players are capable of. This list features some names who are proving their worth in this league and some old ones who keep proving why they’re the best in business. These players have shown us glimpses of their potential in this short season and are destined for success in the Fall season.
Attacking midfielders
Attacking midfielders specialize in creating goals and also scoring them. These attacking midfielders are your best bet for double-digit points with the potential to be involved in multiple goals every game. Toronto FC playmaker Alejandro Pozuelo has set the league on fire since his arrival and tops the list for the most involvements in goal for a midfielder. He has 5 goals and 8 assists in 12 games this season. Orlando City winger Nani has impressed in his debut season and is close behind Pozuelo with 8 goals and 4 assists. Argentinian playmaker Maxi Moralez comes in third with 3 goals and assists. Moralez is followed by fellow Argentinian and MLS legend Diego Valeri who has 3 goals and 7 assists.
Defensive midfielders
Defensive midfielders aren’t involved in goals as much as attackers but provide a decent and consistent floor. They’re good choices for double game-weeks because of their floor and the possibility of being involved in goals. LAFC midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye is the top pick and was involved in 3 goals and 5 assists this season. He forms a formidable partnership with partner in crime Eduard Atuesta who has scored 1 goal along with 6 assists. Other notable defensive midfielders who stood out this season are Jonathan Dos Santos (2 goals + 1 assist), Haris Medunjanin (1 goal + 1 assist) and Jamiro Monteiro (4 goals + 3 assists).
The mix and match of midfielders with different styles of play gives us this combo. These midfielders top the list in terms of points scored this spring fantasy season.
Players to watch out for: Aleksandar Katai (Chicago Fire), Ezequiel Barco (Atlanta United), Felipe Gutiérrez (Sporting Kansas City), Sebastian Blanco (Portland Timbers) and Paxton Pomykal (FC Dallas).
