Round 13 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.
Bradley Wright-phillips / New York Redbulls / $12.4 Million / vs Union
Bradley Wright-phillips heads into Week 13 off the back off a great performance against Atlanta in week 12. BWP found the back off the net twice in Redbulls 3-1 win over Atlanta. Wright-Phillips earned fantasy owners 15 points last week making him one of the highest point earners in week 12.
This week the Redbulls face Union, who come in to the game in great form after back to back wins in the league. A 2-0 win over Montreal and a 4-1 demolition against Real Salt Lake last time out will give the Union a boost in a tough game against New York. But the Redbulls are the joint top scores in the Eastern Conference with 26 goals, and the Union have conceded an average of 1.3 goals a game.So the Redbulls will fancy their chances against Philadelphia
Carlos Vela / LAFC / $13.2 Million / vs DC
The forward is off to the World Cup with Mexico next week, so will be missing for a number of games. However, LAFC will have Carlos Vela this week in the game against DC United. Vela heads in to week 13 off the back of a goal scoring round for the forward last week and he will be looking to continue his good run against a DC side, who have only won two games all season.
Vela is averaging over nine points every week and he hit that mark in last week’s win. The only downside of choosing Vela as your captain this week, is he may have his focus on the World Cup. However, he may want to put in a strong performance to build up his form a head of the World Cup. So, its difficult to judge but a Vela on form will be trouble for DC.
Kaku / New York Redbulls / $10.8 Million / vs Union
Kaku has been in excellent form in recent weeks, five assists and one goal in his last three games makes him one of the hottest midfielders in fantasy soccer this week. This week the Redbulls face DC United who haven’t been great this season. So with the likes of Kaku creating the chances for BWP. DC may struggle to keep out New York this week.
Carlos Darwin Quintero / Minnesota / $10 Million / vs Montreal
Carlos Darwin Quintero heads into week 13 off the back of a goal scoring round. He will be looking to continue his goal scoring run against the worse defensive side in the MLS. The Impact have conceded an average of 2.25 goals a game, while Minnesota are averaging at least one goal a game. So, we should have goals, which will give Quintero plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net.
