2018 Round 20 Captain’s conundrum

Captain’s conundrum

Round 20 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi / NYCFC / $9.6 Million / vs Montreal and Columbus

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has scored one goal in his last two appearances. This week NYCFC and Tajouri-Shradi have a double game week for us to take advantage of. NYCFC face Montreal today in a matchup they should win. However Montreal will be no walk over for New York. The Canadian side have won four of their last five games and sit comfortably mid table in sixth.
NYCFC second game is against the Crew who have had a good season so far . They sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and will cause New York plenty of problems. However both games are at the Yankee Stadium , which will give NYCFC an advantage. The Blues have won four out of their five last games at home, plus Tajouri-Shradi should have plenty of game time with Jo Inge Berget set to miss both games. NYCFC should dominate both games and should supply Tajouri-Shradi with plenty of opportunities .

Ignacio Piatti / Montreal Impact / $12.1 Million / vs NYCFC and San Jose

Ignacio Piatti has helped his side to four wins on the bounce .The argentine has been in top form in front of goal , scoring four goals and providing one assists in Impacts four games. Montreal will have to travel to New York to face NYCFC first today, which will be a tough game for the Canadian side.
However a more winnable game against San Jose is later this weekend. The second game against San Jose will be the game Piatti and the Impact will be targeting. San Jose have conceded five goals in their last two games and have only managed to pick up one point in their last four games . Piatti is on top form and should be confident of carrying on his record this weekend.

Maximiliano Moralez / NYCFC / $13.5 Million / vs Montreal and Columbus

Maximiliano Moralez is the creative spark in the blues midfield. Moralez performances have been good and his numbers haven’t disappointed. Four assists in his last five games , and he has also chipped in with two goals. This week Moralez will be looking forward to facing Columbus who have given up seven goals in their last three games. The Crew managed to give up four against LAFC in their last away game.
Moralez may find it a little more difficult in their first match against Montreal . The Canadian side have kept a clean sheet in three out of their last four games. NYCFC will offer a tougher test to Impacts defence than Orlando did . Though Montreal have proven they can keep it tight at the back. If Moralez is on top form, then most defences in the league will struggle to contain him . Even if NYCFC struggle against Montreal , New York and Moralez should redeem themselves against the Crew.

Wayne Rooney / DC United / $10.5 Million / vs Vancouver (Wildcard)

The Englishman has achieved almost everything there is to win in club football. Yet he is ready to start a new challenge at DC. Rooney scored on his debut on his return to Merseyside last summer, and I fancy the forward to make another memorable impact on his debut. DC face Vancouver, who have conceded seven goals in their last three games . However DC have not been anything special this year , but Rooney maybe the boost DC need to kick start their season.
