2018 Round 21 Captain’s conundrum

Round 21 in the MLS gets underway tonight, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Carlos Darwin Quintero / Minnesota / $9.2 Million / vs New England and LAFC

The forward has scored four goals in his last three games for Minnesota in the MLS. Including a hat-trick against Toronto in round 19. Carlos Darwin Quintero has a double game week this round , with games against New England and LAFC will be a difficult test for Minnesota. Who currently sit ninth in the Western conference.New England have picked up only one point in the last two games, including a 3-2 lose to LAFC last week. While New England did managed to win against DC in the beginning of July , there defensive performances have let them down. Seven goals conceded in their last four games will certainly boost Quintero’s confidence, heading in to tonight’s match. LAFC will be a tougher task but the forward should be involved in both games giving him plenty of opportunities to pick up points

Josef Martinez / Atlanta / $12.7 Million / vs DC United

The leagues current top scorer has been in fine form this season . 19 goals in 21 matches is a ratio any striker would be proud of. Five goals in his last four games is a great return by the Atlanta striker and he should really be looking forward to coming up against a DC side. Who have conceded six goals in their last three matches. Josef Martinez has scored 11 goals since Atlanta’s bye week in round 13. He has scored in every match except one since round 14, making him one of the most consistent fantasy players there is. This week Atlanta should really be winning this game by at least a couple of goals , and Martinez will be a huge threat to DC.

Miguel Ibarra / Minnesota / $8.5 Million / vs New England and LAFC

Another player who has a double game week . Miguel Ibarra has been in good form in recent weeks two goals and one assist in this last three games is a good return from the midfielder. He has earned fantasy owners 11 and 10 points in recent weeks.
If the midfielder continues to put in performances what we have seen from him in recent matches then with him playing twice this round he will be one of the highest scoring midfielders this week. However Minnesota will do well to pick up a win against two quality teams , especially LAFC.

Diego Fagundez / New England / $11.5 Million / vs Minnesota and Redbulls

Diego Fagundez put in a great performance against LA Galaxy last week , one assist and one goal rounded off a good display. This week New England face Minnesota which will be the Revolutions best chance of picking up points this week. A tougher task against the Redbulls later in the round will probably be a game New England will not be targeting.
However Fagundez will be targeting Minnesota’s less than solid defence, United have conceded eight goals in their last three games . Which will encourage the forward that he can cause Minnesota problems.
