2018 Round 8 Captain’s conundrum

Round 8 in the MLS gets underway tomorrow, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic / LA Galaxy / 10 Million / vs Atlanta

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored 3 goals since joining the Galaxy from Manchester United last month . The forward is still finding his feet and fitness in the league and will only get better as the season goes on.
This Week LA Galaxy face Atlanta looking to build on their 1-0 victory over Chicago in week 7. Ibrahimovic got the only goal of the game and he will want to continue is great start to his life in the MLS . Atlanta are not the force they are at home but will still offer a tough challenge to LA , but conceding two goals at home to NYCFC will defiantly encourage the big man .

Alberth Elis / Houston Dynamos / 11.5 Million / vs Toronto

Houston Dynamos will be looking to take advantage of a Toronto side, who will have one eye on their midweek Champions League game . If Toronto follow the same pattern as last week , which saw a weakened side line up in their 2-0 lost to Colorado.
Alberth Elis has earned fantasy owners 41 points this season ,making the forward one of the highest point scorers so far this year. However Elis hasn’t scored since week 3’s game against DC United , so Elis will be looking to get back to scoring ways against a weakened Toronto side.

Nicolas Lodeiro Orlando City / 12.2 Million / vs Minnesota

Nicolas Lodeiro is one of the safest picks in week 8, Lodeiro has picked up 8 or more points in every game this season. This week Seattle face Minnesota coming off the back of a hard fought 2-2 draw against Sporting KC.
Lodeiro will be looking to take advantage of a Minnesota defense which has been far from solid this season. United have conceded 7 goals in their last 3 games , and come into the game off the back of a 3-2 lost to Portland Timbers in week 7.

Tomas Martinez / Houston Dynamos / 8.3 Million / vs Toronto – Wildcard

This weeks wildcard pick is Tomas Martinez . The midfielder will be a key part of Houston’s attack this weekend against Toronto. The Canadian side rested a number of players before the first leg of their Champions League semi-final , which saw them lose against Colorado .
So with Toronto needing to overcome a first leg defeat, I would expect another altered line up against Houston and Martinez should have plenty of chances to attack a defense which will be changed.
