Round 11 is underway in Fantasy MLS and it’s the biggest double game week of the season so far. Since there are a lot of good quality teams with two fixtures, the emphasis will mostly be on premium players with offensive upside.
1) Alejandro Pozuelo
Pozuelo will be the most popular captain pick this week and there is little doubt why. The latest Toronto FC signing has been on a tear since he joined the team with 4 goals and a league high 6 assists. He has a great floor to go with an incredible ceiling, he is one of the most safest players in the game. Even though he is more than enough of producing magic on his own, the injury to Jozy Altidore has made him a tad bit less lethal. Altidore won’t participate in the game against Atlanta but the good news is that Altidore should return for the second match of the DGW which is the more favorable fixture at home against Philadelphia Union.
2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The face of the league and one of the most consistent players around, the only thing that could stop him now is a knee injury. The big swede also seems to win a lot of 50/50 decisions in his favor, which has resulted in 5 penalty kicks won and 5 penalty kicks scored. All by him. He has scored in his previous 2 games along with 1 assist and if you select him as captain this week then you will be expecting much of the same from him.
3) Jonathan Dos Santos
A workhorse in the midfield for LA Galaxy, he hasn’t been much involved in goals but has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the form of bonus points. He has scored 5,6 and 11 in his last 3 games despite not scoring and assisting in them. He has a solid floor and could easily get you atleast 8 points in a DGW, which makes him a very safe captain pick. If you’re lucky, he could even end up on the scroresheet.
4) Josef Martinez
The MVP of the 2018 season and the golden boot winner, Martinez has had a bit of a cold start to the season due to the absence of partner-in-crime Miguel Almiron who was transferred to Newcastle United. He has gained a bit of form since then, scoring 3 goals in the past 3 games but he still remains a high risk-high reward option with 2 home games this week against Toronto FC and Orlando City. Atlanta will miss in-form player Ezequiel Barco due to the U-20 world cup and it will be upto Pity Martinez and Julian Gressel to serve him. Could Martinez catch fire and continue his streak?
5) Saphir Taider
He has been one of the important players on a Montreal side that has made it’s way to 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference without their best player Ignacio Piatti. Though completely out of form, games against NYRB (one cleansheet so far this season against FC Cincinnati) and FC Cincinnati (lost 5 games in a row and winless in 7 games), Saphir Taider could finally find some form.
