Every week, I’m going to go over my suggestions from last week, and determine if they were a good or bad pick based on position and points. To describe in detail the ranking system, here is the metric: bust = 4 or fewer points (or not starting/on the bench), average = 5-6 points, good = 7-8 points, great = 9+ points. Players not available for selection I am disregarding and not counting as a positive or negative in the article.
DGW Scoring: Bust = 6 or fewer, Average = 7-9, Good = 10-12, Great = 13+
- Paul Marie – Bust (0 points)
- Claudio Bravo – Bust (3 points)
- Xerdian Shaqiri – Great! (10 points)
- Santiago Rodrigues – Good (7 points)
- Nicholas Gioacchini – Good (7 points)
- Jeremy Ebobisse – Bust (2 points)
Week 14 Final Results: 1 Great, 2 Good, 3 Busts
2023 Full Season Results: 14 Great, 10 Good, 11 Average, 36 Bust
After missing last DGW, I am starting back up with the single games of the week 16 double game week. Anyways, let’s get into it!
Robin Jansson, $6.9m (Orlando Defender)
I’m choosing to start this article off with an off-the-wall pick: Orlando defender. Yes, this is a team with only 3 clean sheets on the year. However, Jansson still has a 4 point average and Orlando has a favorable matchup, hosting Colorado. With that said, Jansson has looked to be the bonus point producer and possible goal threat on set pieces for Orlando. Take a chance!
Miguel Tapias, $8.4m (Minnesota Defender)
I know that Tapias has had a rough last two weeks. However, he still has been producing more bonus points as of late compared to Boxall. Minnesota has a road matchup in Montreal, which may not be favorable for Minnesota on paper. On the bright side, Minnesota is getting Emanuel Reynoso back, so maybe he relieves the pressure and helps create a clean sheet.
Indiana Vassilev, $7.6m (St. Louis Midfielder)
This is a fun pick that is still viable given the matchup. Eduard Lowen is, of course, the chalk pick in the STL vs LAG matchup. Vassiliv, however, is splitting set pieces with Lowen. Should he start on Saturday, Vassilev has a good chance at getting an assist or two against the bottom dweller LA Galaxy team.
Albert Rusnak, $8.9m (Seattle Midfielder)
It was announced on Friday that Nicolas Lodeiro is confirmed out for their matchup against Charlotte. Albert Rusnak is supposed to take over as the number 10. Should Raul Ruidiaz be starting, Rusnak is a lethal option in the midfield. Rusnak already has a floor of 4-5 points. Should he add in an assist or two, he has potential to be a top mid on the week.
Nicholas Gioacchini, $7.2m (St. Louis Forward)
The STL matchup is a wonderful matchup to double up on the offense. Given that Klauss is supposed to be out for another game, Gioacchini is a good option at forward.
Brian White, $7.6m (Vancouver Forward)
First off, congratulations to the Vancouver Whitecaps on winning the Canadian Championship for a second year in a row! Second, Brian White is on pace to compete for the Golden Boot if he continues scoring in the form that he is in. Through 1490 minutes across all competitions, White has scored 9 goals and assisted once. That is an average of a goal every 1.6 games. Given that he didn’t score in the SKC game, that means he is due to score against Cincinnati, right.
