2018 Round 3 Captain’s conundrum

Round 3 in the MLS gets underway tomorrow, So I have taken a look at the best options to make your Fantasy captain this week. Picking the right captain this week , could see you claw back points on the leaders of your league , or even extend the gap at the top. Here’s my top four picks for this week.

Nemanja Nikolic / Chicago Fire / $11.5 M / vs Minnesota United

Nemanja Nikolic showed his class against Sporting Kansas City last week. The striker bagged himself two goals for Chicago , earning fantasy owners 13 points in week 2. Chicago travel to Minnesota in week 3 in a match up they will be favorites to win. However Chicago will have to put in a better performance than they did against SKC , where they were outplayed for large parts of the game. However Nikolic did show his clinical side managing to score a double . The forward will be looking forward to facing a Minnesota side who gave up 20 attempts at their goal against Orlando in week 2.

CJ Sapong / Philadelphia Union / $10 M / vs Columbus Crew

The Philadelphia forward earned fantasy owners 12 points in week one , in Union’s comfortable victory over New England. CJ Sapong was one of the stand out players in the opening weekend and would have left the field disappointed to only have scored one. This week, Philadelphia Union host a Columbus Crew side with a 100 percent win ratio this season. However the Union will head in to week 3 full of confidence, Sapong and David Accam seem to have already developed an understanding and linked well thought out. While Crew have won both their games this season ,they have given up 28 shots on their goal this season. So Sapong should have a number of chances to score this week.

David Villa / NYCFC / $11.3 M / vs Orlando City

New York city host an Orlando City who have struggled to find form this season . Orlando come in to week three on the back of a shock defeat to Minnesota at home in week two. On the other hand David Villa had a much better week , the forward was heavily involved in NYCFC victory over LA Galaxy .Villa scored one goal, made three key passes and took seven shots , earning fantasy owners 10 points in week 2 . While Orlando come in to this game looking short of attacking options and confidence , Dom Dywer and Stefano Phino both out through injury. Villa will fancy his chances of adding to his goal tally this weekend .

Aleksandar Katai / Chicago Fire / $9 M / vs Minnesota United

Aleksander Katai performed well on his MLS debut .Katai was a key component in Chicago’s attack , creating four chances for his team mates and taking four shots. Katai also managed to score on his debut and will be looking to continue his goal scoring run against Minnesota in week 3.Chicago head in to the game as favourites and should have plenty of possession . This should give Katai the chance to add to his 11 points he has so far this season.
