KFC’s Fantasy MLS Forward picks – Week 9

Forwards

We found it a little difficult to find some good forward recommendations for this week. Forwards suffer from the same problem that Keepers do, there are fewer quality options to pick from so the best players tend to rise to the top quickly. We decided to focus on players that we think are a good value for your money. Please not that Deshorn Brown is at the top of this list, but his injury prevents us from recommending him (unless you can afford to sit him)

Big 3
Chris Wondolowski (CHV v SJ), Robert Earnshaw (TOR vs NY), and Thierry Henry (TOR vs NY).

Keep reading for the rest.

Dominic Oduro (Columbus) vs D.C. United
Price: $7.0m
Owned by: 15.9%

Oduro is the cheapest of our 3 main picks this week. While the game against Chicago was disappointing for DC, Oduro has still been in good enough form for many managers to take notice. But what about his chances in the DC game? DC actually has a better road record than home one (at least when it comes to Goals Allowed: Home 7 Away 3) Columbus has also been scoring more on the road, but have only allowed 2 home goals. We think this match will be tough. A lot may come down to what form Higuain is in. His service is something Oduro will be able to take advantage of. Odura has already gained $0.2m this week, so if you are looking to build some value he’s a great option, even is his game is not.

Jack McInerney (Philadelphia) vs New England
Price: $8.5m
Owned by: 14.9%

One of the more obvious picks this week. J Mac’s 2 goals in his game against DC and his low price have made him a very tempting target this week. If you are looking to downgrade one of your $9m or $10m players ( /cough Wondo) he’s a good option. What we want to highlight is the long term value of J Mac because Philly has a nice run up to their double game in Week 12 (NE, sea, CHI, LA/CHI).

Marco Di Vaio (Montreal) vs Chicago
Price: $8.5m
Owned by: 5.9%

Once again, a Montreal player has made it onto our list. We really think a lot of these guys have been undervalues and are under owned due to all their byes. Which is GREAT for fantasy managers! Di Vaio has 3 goals in his last 6 games and Chicago is one of the worst as conceding goals away from home (while Montreal is one of the best at scoring at home). We think this game will remind managers why Montreal players are still worth having, even with their byes.

Differential

Blas Perez (Dallas) vs Vancouver
Price: $9.0m
Owned by: 0.5%

We almost went with Adam Jahn again this week, but is was Perez that caught our eye instead. Perez has only played 5 games for Dallas, and he has scored 3 goals. That’s much better than Cooper and he costs less! Vancouver have only given up 2 home goals, but Dallas is a team that can put them in the back of the net, and if you are willing to take a risk, Perez could be your man.

These are our picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post.
