KFC’s MLS Fantasy Captain picks – Week 8 (Double Game Special)

captain-MLSWell, it’s already time to pick a captain. Boy the week flies by when games start on Wednesday! I almost skipped this article this week because the choice seems obvious, but that just didn’t seem right. So here it is. We don’t think there are any choices from teams that are not playing a double game this week. If you have one, let us know, but it seems like a long shot.

Keep Reading for our picks.

Options

  • Thierry Henry
A couple of goals in the last 3 games has done a lot of improve Henry’s form. He’ll need that in the game against SKC. There are rumors that he might not play a full 180 this week, but Henry is a very competitive guy. He also has the advantage of being able to generate come Key Passes and Crosses.
  • Claudio Bieler
Bieler has 4 goals in 6 games and that makes him one of the most in form forwards right now. He’s coming off of a bye week, so he should be well rested and ready to earn his DP money. He does have 2 away games, but half of his goals are already from away games.
  • Dax McCarty
As mentioned before, Dax is a key player for New York and he has great defensive numbers. The SKC game could be rough and those defensive bonuses should add up quickly. Against New England, he always poses a threat for goals and assists too.
  • Graham Zusi
Zusi is the 2nd highest point scorer in fantasy right now and by far the most captained. He’s just too consistent and is able to put up good numbers without a goal or an assist. Definitely the top pick for many people this week.
  • Jamison Olave
Olave was the highest point scorer in week 7 and has already racked up 3 goals this season. If you are brave enough to risk a clean sheet against SKC, you could get some big returns from this guy.
  • Aurélien Collin
The defensive rock of Kansas City. Collin has a great opportunity to add to his already impressive CBI total. He’s not an offensive threat, but you could expect 3-4 defensive bonus points, per game, from him easily.

Top 3

  • Graham Zusi
His track record it just too good to not make him our number 1 pick. We’re hoping for a big return this week after the 5 point DC game and a bye week.
  • Claudio Bieler
He’s on good form and has had some great chances. If Zusi is not going to get a goal, this is the guy that he will be looking for.
  • Dax McCarty
His defensive numbers are quite good and he’s a key figure in the NY team. Added to that he seems like one player who will play 180min makes him our number 3 pick

Runner-up

  • Jamison Olave
Olave’s offensive threat and solid defense make him very tempting as a captain choice. But, is SKC or NE get one through, his numbers will suffer. It’s a bit too much of a risk for us.

So who do you think is a must have? Vote now and let everyone know.
