KFC’s MLS Fantasy Keeper picks – Week 9

Keepers

I hope everyone was not focusing too hard on Nielsen and Robles last week. They may have been the DGW keepers, but several others came through for their teams when they needed them.  Rimando and Johnson finally got their 2nd clean sheets, Cudicini finally got a clean sheet to make up for the Toronto game, and Seattle finally got a win!

If you are in the market for a keeper, you should be keeping an eye out for those who have a double game in week 11. All of the Big 3 fall into that category as well as a couple of our picks. Just be sure to look at the bye weeks and plan your rotations.

Big 3
Hamnid (CLB v DC), Tally Hall (HOU vs COL), and Jimmy Nielsen (SKC vs CHI).

Dan Kennedy (Toronto) vs New York
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 12%

Kennedy is leading the league in saves and recoveries. Those are two great categories that translate into bonus points for keepers. Unfortunately, Toronto has not been great at keeping balls out of the net. What they have going for them is that New York has poor away form and Toronto has not lost at home this season (1-0-3). The big X factor for this game will be what kind of form Henry can stay in leading into the next double game week.

Clint Irwin (Colorado) vs Houston
Price: $4.4m
Owned by: 8.6%

Colorado is playing Houston this week, and I’ll honestly say that this does not look like a win for them. They could get lucky if Davis has to miss a game, but still, Houston knows how to BRING IT at home. So why is he on this list? Simple, because I wanted to ask why more people do not own Irwin yet? He’s a good keeper. He’s had some great games; great saves, and is UNDER $4.5m. If you want to move money into your midfield or defense, this is a guy you must have on your team. If you want to build value, again, you need Irwin, though he purchases have slowed some.

Jon Busch (San Jose) vs Chivas
Price: $5.6m
Owned by: 3.6%

Busch and San Jose have been struggling a little bit, but they are starting to get a little bit of form back and the games leading up to and including week 11 look pretty good on paper (chv,  MON, TOR/sea, COL) Two home games and two away with promising expectations and one difficult home game against Montreal, not a bad run if you can afford him.

Differential

Luis Robles (New York) vs Toronto
Price: $5.6m
Owned by: 2.7%

If you have Robles, you can expect him to rise a little bit more before the double game week. New York face Toronto and Colorado leading up to Week 11, and we think that’s a good lineup and is a reason to hold on to these players for a bit longer.
